The MCU features a stunning variety of Marvel comic heroes, some of whom fight via advanced technology, such as Iron Man, while others are more like classical fantasy heroes, such as the mighty Asgardian Thor and his friend Heimdall. Thor has many years of combat experience and practice under his belt, and he's ready to share his expertise.

Thor is ready to tutor some budding warriors, but who is worth his time? He might refer to the vast world of shonen and seinen anime, which is packed with battle-worthy heroes of all types. Many of these heroes would benefit greatly from Thor's coaching, and Thor might even learn something from them in return. Other characters, though, won't get a chance.

10 THOR WOULD TRAIN: Guts, The Black Swordsman (Berserk)

Guts, Berserk

One of the most legendary seinen heroes is Guts the mercenary, who embodies everything that makes seinen anime compelling. He has spent his entire life on the battlefield, and is used to facing entire armies of knights or demonic Apostles and winning. His dragon slayer sword is to be feared.

Thor would empathize with Guts' loss, having lost his parents and his brother Loki to his enemies, not to mention his home of Asgard. Guts would recognize Thor as an elite fighter and learn much from him during their sparring sessions together.

9 THOR WOULDN'T TRAIN: Sasuke Uchiha, The Vengeful Shinobi (Naruto)

Sasuke Uchiha Angry

Thor would recognize Sasuke Uchiha as a powerful ninja, but the two of them would not get along very well as friends or as coach and student. Sasuke was obsessed first with killing his brother Itachi, then with destroying the Leaf Village. Thor would be disgusted with Sasuke's fixation on revenge and hate.

Even if that weren't an issue, Sasuke's myriad techniques and fighting styles are quite different from what Thor does, and Thor wouldn't be able to teach Sasuke what he needs to know as a ninja. Since when does Sasuke want to learn how to throw around a hammer?

8 THOR WOULD TRAIN: Askeladd, The Half-Welsh Viking (Vinland Saga)

Askeladd in Vinland Saga

Askeladd is the one who trained the young Thorfinn, but he himself needed a coach at some point. Askeladd spent his boyhood as a street urchin of sorts, having no one and nothing but his downtrodden Welsh mother to take care of. But he was talented with the sword, and his father Olaf started training him for real.

If things had turned out differently, it could have been the mighty Thor who trained the young Askeladd instead, and Thor would have no trouble honing Askeladd's skills and teaching him how to think and behave like an honorable warrior. Askeladd would soak it all up like a sponge.

7 THOR WOULDN'T TRAIN: Ken Kaneki, The Half-Ghoul (Tokyo Ghoul)

Tokyo Ghoul Ken Kaneki

Ken Kaneki never asked to become a flesh-eating ghoul, but that is indeed what happened, and he needed Touka Kirishima to teach him how to handle his kagune and his superhuman strength. He eventually became self-taught and started coaching Banjo as well. Ken even ate Yamori's kagune to become a terrifying kakuja.

Thor wouldn't like the sight or nature of a ghoul's powers, and he would see Ken as a brutal creature, not a warrior, especially when Ken goes wild in his kagune state. Ken doesn't even fight with a traditional weapon like a sword or battle hammer, so Thor has little to teach him.

6 THOR WOULD TRAIN: Ichigo Kurosaki, The Substitute Soul Reaper (Bleach)

Ichigo Kurosaki From Bleach

Ichigo Kurosaki has a lot going for him, such as his raw spirit energy, inner Hollow, sharp instincts, and steely resolve. However, Ichigo never attended the formal Soul Reaper academy, so he had to learn on the fly. He also had tutors such as Kisuke Urahara and Yoruichi Shihoin to help.

Thor would give Ichigo a spot in his training course and help Ichigo realize his true potential as a swordsman. Thor would appreciate Ichigo's tough attitude and desire to help others, and he would really like Ichigo's tenacity and stubborn will. Thor might be reminded a bit of himself.

5 THOR WOULDN'T TRAIN: Narancia Ghirga, The Punkish Stand User (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

narancia on boat jojo's bizarre adventure

Thor needs a student who is tough, at least somewhat disciplined, and humble enough to recognize the need to learn from a teacher. By contrast, a poor student is one whose combat style differs too much from Thor's or has a bad attitude.

Those are both problems for Narancia Ghirga, a punkish boy who is street-smart but terrible at studying and following directions. He wields a ranged Stand called Aerosmith, and he has few melee options aside from using a pocketknife. Thor has little to teach this boy and would find him rather annoying, too.

4 THOR WOULD TRAIN: Tanjiro Kamado, The Kind Slayer (Demon Slayer)

6 yushiro lends tanjiro his sight

Like Ichigo Kurosaki, Tanjiro Kamado is a home-grown hero who quickly learned to use a sword to defend the innocent from monsters and villains. Tanjiro's Nichirin blade is jet black, and he uses elegant but powerful water breathing moves to wipe out any demon who threatens the peace.

Thor would get a solid impression of Tanjiro if they ever met, noting the boy's determination, discipline, humility, and sheer talent. Thor may not use a sword himself, but he could adjust his training regimen to help toughen up Tanjiro before it's time to fight the Upper Moons.

3 THOR WOULDN'T TRAIN: Kyoka Jiro, AKA Earphone Jack (My Hero Academia)

kyoka jiro my hero academia

On a personal level, Thor would like Kyoka Jiro, a cool and confident support hero who loves music and beating up bad guys. Thor would be intrigued by Jiro's Earphone Jack Quirk and its sonic abilities, but he's not sure where to go from there.

Jiro is a decent student, but the problem is that her fighting style is too different from Thor's. Thor wouldn't know how to hone and refine Jiro's sonic Quirk, and his physical combat regimen would be wasted on Jiro, who is rather petite and unsuited for unarmed combat up close. Jiro simply needs a different teacher.

2 THOR WOULD TRAIN: Erza Scarlet, An S-Ranked Wizard (Fairy Tail)

Fairy Tail's Erza Scarlet wearing her Flame Empress Armor.

Erza Scarlet is yet another anime swordfighter who would benefit from the mighty Thor's extensive experience and advanced techniques. Thor has lived for much longer than Erza Scarlet, and he has seen and done things she can't even imagine. Erza is eager for the lessons to begin.

Thor would approve of Erza's tough but kind personality, and her sheer courage and willpower in combat. Erza, in turn, would recognize Thor's prowess, dutifully learn all she can from him, and master every lesson and exercise that her Asgardian tutor can think up.

1 THOR WOULDN'T TRAIN: Milim Nava, The Powerhouse Demon Lord (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)

Milim Nava That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime

Demon Lord Milim is at least as powerful as any Asgardian, but she isn't exactly a disciplined, Norse-inspired warrior-hero. Instead, Milim is wild and lives on her whims, destroying monsters or kingdoms at random while seeking out fun things to do or new snacks to eat.

Milim is hardly evil, but she is also chaotic and bratty at times, and Thor would get a real headache trying to mold Milim into a disciplined and purposeful hero for the Avengers. Milim would keep interrupting him to ask for snacks or pester him with inappropriate personal questions. This training session is over.
