In the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4, the timeline has often been murky and confusing. This is especially true with the Disney+ shows, and fans often debate when and where they take place. The new She-Hulk: Attorney at Law trailer has generated some discussion that the series actually takes place during The Blip.

As MCU fans know, The Blip refers to the five-year span following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, in which Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet to snap away half of the universe's population. While Avengers: Endgame dealt with the fallout of The Blip, and its reversal, no Marvel series on Disney+ has yet been set during that timeframe. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, however, may change that.

New Rockstars posted a video following the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 release of She-Hulk's new trailer and pointed out one moment that had them debating whether the show takes place during The Blip, and the hosts disagreed on the timeline. This moment came when Wong was talking to She-Hulk and mentioned the Book of Vishanti.

There are several things in the She-Hulk trailer that have fans questioning the show's place in the timeline. The Book of Vishanti is interesting to note. In the scene, Wong visits She-Hulk in her law office to talk to her about a case. He tells her that he answers to a "higher power" and mentions that the universe is on the "edge of a precipice." She-Hulk responds that she is a lawyer, and she does things by the book. Wong responds, "Mhm... The Book of Vishanti?" to which She-Hulk responds, "No, the book of American, uh, laws." The scene plays for comedy, but it does question continuity.

The Book of Vishanti, as well as the Darkhold, no longer exists in the MCU. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw both books destroyed. Since that movie took place after Spider-Man: No Way Home, the speculation is that She-Hulk takes place before either of those movies. Also, since No Way Home took place immediately following Spider-Man: Far From Home, which was only months after The Blip ended, the suggestion is that She-Hulk occurs during the Blip.

Wong in the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings post credit scene

There is another question that arises from the trailer. While not explicitly stated, Wong seems like he went to She-Hulk to help defend Emil Blonsky, the Abomination. In the trailer, She-Hulk takes the case while Emil remains imprisoned. In another scene from the trailer, Emil turns into Abomination, and Wong is standing behind She-Hulk when this happens. This also questions the continuity of the series. In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Wong and Abomination are working together at underground fight clubs during the movie. In the end, Wong is working with Captain Marvel and Hulk on putting together heroes who can help them, as something bad was coming.

It seems clear Wong wants She-Hulk to help Abomination, and she should succeed based on what Shang-Chi showed. That means that She-Hulk takes place before that movie in the timeline. Shang-Chi took place after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in the timeline, and that Disney+ show started six months after everyone returned from The Blip. This means She-Hulk takes place before No Way Home and Shang-Chi, which explains why Wong is talking about the book destroyed in Multiverse of Madness. With all the hints in the trailer, the Disney+ show almost has to take place during The Blip, which would add an interesting wrinkle to the fact that more superpowered beings showed up during that time, and could also explain Damage Control appearing almost out of nowhere in No Way Home and Ms. Marvel.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres Aug. 18 on Disney+, with new episodes each Thursday through Oct. 13.
