Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac revealed that he would love to reprise the role -- but he's not yet sure whether the Disney+ series will return for a second season.

In an interview with Empire, the star confirmed that Moon Knight Season 2 getting the green light from Marvel Studios hinges on how well Season 1 is received by audiences. "It depends on whether people see the freakin’ show first. If they see it, then maybe we'll see more Moon Knight," said Isaac. "But I love playing him. Particularly Steven. I hope I get to visit him again. I love him so much. I feel he's someone real, who lives in the world. It's been a long time since I felt that kind of connection."

Isaac previously shared how much he relished the opportunity Moon Knight provided him to do something different with a superhero performance. He recalled, "[Moon Knight's] the first legitimate Marvel character study since Iron Man. I thought, 'Maybe I can hijack this thing. Maybe this is the chance to do something really fucking nutty on a major stage.'"

That experimentation sees Isaac adopt a British accent to play Steven Grant, one of the civilian alter-egos Moon Knight assumes when not fighting crime. The Guatemalan-born American actor has received criticism from some fans for what they perceive as a poor attempt at the accent. Isaac has since revealed that his vocals aren't meant to sound authentic. "That voice is about where Steven's from, where he's living now, and some of his believed heritage," he explained. "It's not an idea of what Brits actually sound like."

Despite Isaac's efforts to differentiate Moon Knight from other costumed adventurers, the character has already drawn comparisons to another, more famous superhero: BatmanMoon Knight head writer Jeremy Slater insists the series will nevertheless focus on what makes its hero unique, saying in a recent interview, "We've seen that side of Moon Knight [in some comics] as a playboy philanthropist, throwing moon-shaped boomerangs, flying around in a moon-shaped plane, but I don't think that's the coolest possible version of the character."

Moon Knight's creative team is also keen for the show to stand apart from other Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, as well as its DC rivals. Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige recently talked about Moon Knight's less restrained approach to violence compared to other MCU installments. "There are moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, 'We're gonna pull back on this, right?'" said Feige. "No. We're not pulling back. There's a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight."

Moon Knight premieres on Disney+ on March 30.
