With so many different heroes, villains, and characters throughout the MCU, it's no surprise that the powers and abilities of each individual can vary greatly. That said, there are a number of characters that utilize the same skill set such as the handful of characters to utilize the Iron Man armor technology.

Thanks to WandaVision and Loki, MCU fans now realize that magic is a big influence on the greater MCU and it will presumably continue to be for many years to come. There are different types of magic throughout the MCU and with everything fans know so far, there does appear to be a clear pecking order.

11 Baron Karl Mordo & The Practitioners Of The Mystic Arts

Baron Mordo Observes The Trainees

Mordo is not a bad magic user by any means, he just so happens to be the least powerful, especially when compared to some of the powerhouses on this list. Mordo is certainly more powerful than most of the other mystic arts users but there are several that are more powerful than him as well.

He is shown wearing the relics known as the Vaulting Boots of Valtorr, suggesting that he is quite a worthy wielder of the mystic arts since relics typically choose their user. He also uses the Staff of the Living Tribunal suggesting he is quite powerful if the relic imbued with such incredible power would allow him to use it.

10 Kaecilius & His Gang Of Zealots

Kaecilius and his group of zealots from Dr. Strange

Kaecilius and his team of extremists are shown to be quite powerful; however, they are borrowing power from the dark lord Dormammu suggesting they aren't nearly as powerful in their base forms. Kaecilius specifically is quite powerful, especially in the Mirror Dimension, but his lackeys are handled by Dr. Strange before he has any significant power.

Kaecilius' matter folding abilities are quite impressive and he seems to have a pretty good understanding of how to traverse the Mirror Dimension, making him a dangerous foe indeed.

9 The Faithful Librarian Of Kamar-Taj, Wong

Wong from the MCU preparing for battle

Wong is the latest in a long line of librarians for Kamar-Taj and he is always learning new spells, incantations, and knowledge from the sea of books and transcripts. While he is outdone by the zealots in the first Dr. Strange film, he has grown a great deal stronger since then.

He is even believed to be seen in the Shang-Chi trailer fighting against who many believe is Tim Roth's Abomination from The Incredible Hulk. If that is him, fans will get to see how strong he has become quite soon; though if it's not, Doctor Strange into the Multiverse of Madness is right around the corner.

8 Thor & Loki's Mother, Frigga

Frigga with Jane Foster in Thor 2

Frigga isn't shown doing a lot of magic, but her projection of Jane Foster during the Dark Elves' invasion of Asgard is quite believable. She is also responsible for teaching Loki everything he knows, and since Loki is such a powerful sorcerer in his own right, it would make sense that his teacher is quite powerful as well.

It's unknown how powerful Frigga actually was since she was killed before fans saw any of her true powers. However, she did know that Lebowski Thor was from a different timeline and says that she was raised by witches, suggesting that she has a variety of different powerful magical abilities, including some kind of clairvoyance.

7 Classic Loki Is Quite Powerful In His Old Age

Classic Loki sitting on his couch

While Classic Loki is quite old, he is still an incredibly powerful sorcerer. Classic Loki explained to Variant Loki that he was able to conjure a duplicate so believable that Thanos had believed he has actually killed Loki when in fact he had snapped the neck of a projection. Classic Loki is also seen conjuring incredibly believable duplicates in their secret base so that they can escape during the brawl. They also happen to escape through a teleportation portal conjured by Classic Loki.

He even manages to create a fake Asgard to distract Alioth long enough for Loki and Sylvie to enchant the beast. Classic Loki may have sacrificed himself, or he may have conjured another incredibly believable duplicate; perhaps season 2 of Loki will shed some light on his status. Classic Loki may have been a truly powerful sorcerer, though he was not powerful enough to overcome the influence of the TVA.

6 The Time Variance Authority As A Whole

Loki, Sylvie, and Kang in an elevator

While the man behind the curtain of the TVA was finally revealed to be Kang the Conqueror as many fans had theorized, many of the mysteries of the TVA remain. For one thing, it's never revealed how Kang is able to nullify the energy of the Infinity Stones or various forms of magic.

It's suggested he brought some seriously sophisticated tech with him from the 31st century, but it's all speculation at this point. Even after Sylvie kills the first iteration of Kang, the TVA remains. When Loki is shoved through a time portal by Sylvie, he ends up back at the TVA. However, it appears to be a different TVA that has adapted to the new multiverse timeline situation as Mobius and B-15 have no idea who Loki is and the three stone statues of the Time Keepers have been replaced by one statue of Kang.

5 Gods Of Mischief, Loki & Sylvie Laufeyson

Loki and Sylvie are incredibly powerful magic users roughly on the same level with slightly different skill sets. As of the season finale of Loki, both are capable of fairly impressive telekinetic feats and are basically equals when fighting. The combined power of these two is quite formidable considering they were able to enchant the beast known as Alioth, despite Loki never having attempted enchantment before.

Together they were able to get through the TVA, and the Void, to the final stage at the end of time to reveal Kang as the man behind it all. Though Kang is actually impressed by them and wishes for them to take his place as the head of the TVA to manage time as they see fit so that he can finally rest.

4 The Wicked Witch Of Westview, Agatha Harkness

Agatha Harkness in WandaVision

Agatha Harkness is introduced in WandaVision and is revealed to be hundreds of years old. Not only that, it's revealed that she was able to absorb the power of other witches thanks to her meddling in a forbidden type of magic. It's unknown how many magic users Agatha has drained over the years though had she successfully drained Wanda the world may have been in danger.

At one point, she appeared to be besting Wanda in a magical duel over Westview until it was revealed that Wanda was simply taking the lessons she had learned from Agatha and applying them on a larger scale. Considering Wanda trapped Agatha in New Jersey, she is likely going to unleash some serious magical power on the Scarlet Witch the next time they cross paths.

3 The Previous Sorcerer Supreme Known As The Ancient One

Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in Dr. Strange

The acting Sorcerer Supreme is believed to be the most powerful wielder of the mystic arts, period. During the Ancient One's time as the Sorcerer Supreme, she certainly proved that she was a powerful sorcerer, but unfortunately was no match for invisible spears and gravity.

Kevin Feige has revealed that the Ancient One was approximately 500 years old when she died, suggesting that she had been practicing the mystic arts (and presumably other forms of ancient magic) for over 460 years assuming she began studying the arts sometime in her 30s. Centuries of practice would certainly solidify her as one of the best in the MCU.

2 Dr. Strange, AKA The Current Sorcerer Supreme

Dr Strange using the Mind Stone in his first solo film

The current Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU is Dr. Stephen Strange and he is incredibly powerful in a variety of ways thanks to his understanding of the mystic arts. His intelligence has allowed him to learn a myriad of spells and techniques in an incredibly short period, making him one of the most knowledgeable and most powerful Sorcerer Supremes to date.

With his second film coming in 2022, fans are ecstatic at the opportunity to see what tricks Dr. Strange has in store for them. After already seeing magical abilities such as the Images of Ikonn, the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, the Icy Tendrils of Ikthalon, and the Bolts of Balthakk, fans can only imagine which other comic book spells Strange will perform going forward.

1 Wanda Maximoff, AKA The Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch using her powers in WandaVision.

After Kevin Feige indicating that Wanda is the most powerful Avenger and Agatha telling fans that the Darkhold indicates that Wanda is even more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme, it should be no surprise to see the Scarlet Witch in the top spot. During the events of WandaVision, she barely scratched the surface of her powers only because she didn't fully understand what she was.

After trapping Agatha in a hex, Wanda flies off to a remote location where she is seen studying the Darkhold in her astral form while her physical form makes tea. Considering Strange's physical form is always unconscious when he enters the astral plane, Wanda being able to fully control herself in both states is wildly impressive. She too will be prominent throughout the Dr. Strange sequel so hopefully, fans will get to see a bit of her true power.
