Dennings' tweets drew lots of attention from wrestling fans and journalists such as Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, who replied to the MCU star about landing an interview regarding her new love for wrestling. Some wrestling-related outlets have suggested that Dennings' direct tweets to WWE could lead to a potential guest appearance on a future WWE event or television program such as Raw or Smackdown.

WWE Summerslam 2022 was the company's first premium live event since the dramatic shakeup in upper management. In July, news broke of WWE CEO Vince McMahon being investigated over a $3 million hush money paid for a secret affair. As the investigation by the company's board of directors about old abuse allegations resurfaced, McMahon's daughter, Stephanie McMahon, ended her company sabbatical to become interim CEO. On July 22, the elder McMahon announced his retirement from WWE.
