Unlike other more serious superhero projects, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is especially known for its amazing sense of humor. These shows and movies usually exploit audience expectations to create absurd yet laughable situations. For example, it's very common for the MCU to make some comic relief in the most stressful moments.

However, when most people think about funny characters in the MCU, they tend to mention Thor, Star-Lord, or Ant-Man, leaving some of the most iconic and hilarious female characters out. Despite this, it's clear that some of the funniest characters in the MCU are women. Funny characters like Wanda Maximoff and Jennifer Walters deserve the same appreciation.

10 America Chavez

While America Chavez has only appeared so far in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, she's already one of the funniest characters in the MCU. This character is smug, sarcastic, and witty. When she meets Doctor Strange, she makes fun of his lesser rank, even though he's one of the most solemn figures in Marvel.

On top of that, America's banter with Wong and Strange is hilarious. Even though MoM is supposed to be a horror movie, it has plenty of comical moments. For example, one of the most iconic scenes in the film is America asking Wong and Strange if Spider-Man shoots webs out of his butt. Hopefully, the audience will get to see more of America's funny side in future MCU projects.

9 Mantis

Mantis holds presents in The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special.

As a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, it isn't a surprise that Mantis is a hilarious character. Since she lived most of her life with Ego, she has very little common sense and is known for her naïvete. Her lack of knowledge about the world makes for very funny scenes, such as when she tries to pet Rocket Racoon.

Additionally, Mantis's dynamic with Drax is both adorable and amusing. While Mantis is well-intentioned and gullible, Drax is straightforward and prone to mock her. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special took advantage of Drax and Mantis's lack of knowledge of human social cues and traditions to make an absolutely uproarious film.

8 Valkyrie

Valkyrie and Thor's enemies-to-friends relationship is very entertaining. Valkyrie is always teasing Thor, especially in Thor: Ragnarok, where he's her prisoner. Furthermore, Valkyrie has some iconic scenes in Thor: Love & Thunder, such as when she and Jane vibe to Mary J Blige's "Family Affair."

Even though Valkyrie is supposed to be ruthless, it's obvious she has a great heart. Still, her sarcastic remarks are some of the best parts of the Thor films. Since Thor is a goofball, their combined energy creates one of the silliest dynamics in the MCU.

7 Wanda Maximoff

While Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, is one of the most complex characters in the MCU, she's also extremely funny. In fact, WandaVision parodies several iconic sitcoms from history, and Elizabeth Olsen managed to perfectly imitate the style and mannerisms of all these characters.

However, Wanda isn't only funny in WandaVision; she makes brutal and hilarious comments in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. For example, when Doctor Strange tells her that she created her children using magic, she replies in a sassy tone, "That's what every mother does." That, together with Wanda removing Black Bolt's mouth after Richard Reed's threat, proves the extent of Wanda's dark humor.

6 Kamala Khan

Kamala Khan standing in front of a blackboard and smiling in Ms. Marvel.

Kamala is a very relatable superhero in Ms. Marvel. Before acquiring her powers, Kamala was just a regular girl. Like most of the audience, Kamala's a big fangirl. However, she struggles to go to an AvengerCon because she has over-protective parents who don't understand her teenage experience.

Since Kamala is impulsive and reckless, she constantly finds herself in absurd situations, such as going to the AvengerCon against her parent's wishes. Kamala's plans are never as good as she believes, but she commits to them despite Bruno's more sensible advice, ending up in hilarious situations.

5 Kate Bishop

Kate Bishop talking to Clint Barton with a cold pizza on her head in Hawkeye.

Played by Hailee Steinfeld, it makes sense that Kate Bishop is an absolute hoot in Hawkeye. Finding herself in difficult and unconventional situations, she decides to tackle all her problems with humor. This character is especially hilarious in her interactions with Hawkeye, who is more grounded and grumpy.

On top of that, Kate's scenes with Yelena are some of the most popular ones in the fandom. The fact that she tries to fight a Black Widow, a highly trained assassin, without any self-preservation instincts is hilarious, and even Yelena lets her know that.

4 Okoye

Okoye holding a spear by her side in Black Panther.

While Okoye is solemn, dutiful, and orthodox, she also has an amazing sense of humor in Black Panther. She is against the absurd American culture, and she has no problem letting other people know. In fact, she tends to be condescending and sarcastic with agent Everett Ross.

Additionally, Okoye goes around her missions in a no-nonsense manner that tends to be hilarious. For example, when she and Shuri try to protect Riri Williams, she prefers to use the spear than talk, going against Shuri's more diplomatic and rational approach.

3 Yelena Belova

Yelena Belova eating macaroni and cheese in Kate Bishop's apartment in Hawkeye.

Yelena Belova's chaotic energy quickly turned her into one of the most beloved characters of the MCU. Unlike her sister, Natasha, who takes things more seriously, Yelena loves to mock solemn situations. For example, she makes fun of Natasha's absurd yet iconic fighting pose.

Yelena also tends to defy the expectations people have about a trained Russian assassin, particularly in Hawkeye. For example, she invites Kate Bishop to eat mac and cheese with her. On top of that, she's extremely straightforward to the point where she doesn't care if she makes people uncomfortable, such as when she reminds Ivan Romanoff that she can't menstruate because she doesn't have a uterus.

2 Darcy Lewis

Darcy Lewis smiling in Thor.

Darcy Lewis is the comic relief of the Thor franchise, and she does it incredibly well. She used to be Erik Selvig's intern and Jane Foster's assistant, so she found herself in multiple dangerous situations without even getting paid. In fact, together with Jane, she found Thor when he first arrived on Earth and even tasered him.

Darcy is reckless and shameless, which makes her the funniest character in the Thor franchise. She's often in the middle of ridiculous situations, such as throwing a bunch of stuff to a portal (such as her car keys), interrupting Jane's date in a rude manner, and hiring an intern (when she herself was also an intern).

1 Jennifer Walters

Jennifer Walters talks to the audience in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is the funniest MCU Disney+ show so far, and it's all thanks to its main character. This show's main feature, just like in the comics, is the fact that Jennifer Walters, or She-Hulk, constantly breaks the fourth wall, often questioning superhero genre conventions.

For example, instead of giving the audience the typical epic fight at the end of the series, Jennifer decides to question MCU producers about the quality of the show. Furthermore, Jennifer's comments about Captain America's sexuality were simply priceless.
