A new rumor has suggested that the upcoming Fantastic Four movie will set up a spinoff project starring the Silver Surfer.According to trusted industry scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, a "Silver Surfer project is going to stem out" of Matt Shakman's Fantastic Four movie. However, fans shouldn't expect to see the Silver Surfer in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 6 title as the scooper added that the cosmic hero "will NOT be in the movie." Created by Jack Kirby, the Silver Surfer first appeared in 1966's Fantastic Four #48, serving as a herald of Galactus. He was previously adapted to live-action in the 2007 film, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, where he was portrayed by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne.RELATED: Agatha: Coven of Chaos Reportedly Recasts a Major WandaVision Character

Rumors of a solo Silver Surfer project first emerged in October 2022. At that time, it was reported that Marvel Studios was working on a Disney+ Special Presentation, similar to Werewolf by Night, featuring the Silver Surfer working for Galacutis in the far corners of the cosmos. Unlike this recent rumor, Silver Surfer was expected to release ahead of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Whispers of a solo project began circulating online again in March 2023 following rumors that Shakman had signed a multi-year deal with Marvel Studios which would see him direct multiple episodes of WandaVision spinoff Vision Quest, as well as executive produce a Silver Surfer series. At this time, Marvel Studios has not publicly commented on any of the Silver Surfer rumors, meaning fans should take these claims with a grain of salt for now.

Mila Kunis Knows Who Are Playing The Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four remains one of the more hotly-anticipated MCU projects in development at Marvel Studios. There has been wild speculation among the fandom regarding who will be cast as Marvel's First Family with several popular actors like Adam Driver and Vanessa Kirby recently being listed as the "top choices" for Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, respectively. Mila Kunis was also briefly linked to Fantastic Four until the actor denied any involvement in the upcoming movie during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Despite not being part of Fantastic Four, Kunis admitted that she knows who is but wouldn't unveil this information as she didn't want to "get in trouble with the mouse."

Antonio Banderas Rumored for Galactus

The latest Silver Surfer rumor comes less than a week after another reliable scooper, @MyTimeToShineHello, claimed Antonio Banderas was being courted for the role of Galactus in the MCU. While plot details for Fantastic Four remain under wraps, the Devourer of Worlds has been rumored to appear in the upcoming movie, which will feature a cosmic-heavy storyline with "1960s elements." Like Silver Surfer, Galactus previously appeared in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which reimagined the massive world-eating entity as an inhuman cosmic force.

Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
