Spider-Man: No Way Home was the sixth highest-grossing film of all time, and it owes a small piece of that success to Florida man Ramiro Alanis who watched the movie in the theater so many times he broke a world record -- again!

Alanis had previously broken the Guinness World Record for "most cinema productions attended of the same film" in 2019 after watching Avengers: Endgame 191 times. However, his record was short-lived, as it was beaten by Arnaud Klein in 2021 for watching Kaamelott: First Instalment 204 times. Not to be outdone, Alanis turned around and shattered both his previous record and Klein's by going to see the latest Spider-Man film 292 times.

To qualifiy for the record, all viewings were required to be watched independently of any other activities, meaning Alanis had to watch the film entirely from beginning to the end of the credits without checking his phone, taking a nap, or using the bathroom. Over the first few weeks, Alanis watched as many as five screenings a day, for a total of 12 hours and 20 minutes of dedicated viewing time daily.

Alanis obviously wasn't the only one watching the blockbuster film, which broke several records. One of those records was to become the first film since the beginning of the pandemic to pass the $1 billion mark at the box office. Benedict Cumberbatch, one star of No Way Home, had doubted Marvel boss Kevin Feige's optimism concerning the film's prospects in a post-pandemic era. "I think when Kevin Feige first said, 'We'll know about the future of cinema, or the cinemagoing experience, after this film,' I was like, 'Okay, everyone's drinking too much of the Kool-Aid around here.'" explained Cumberbatch. "My ignorance was showed up."

Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, was also surprised by the massive success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's third Spider-Man film at the box office. "I don't think I could ever have imagined it as being so well received by everyone," Holland explained. "I mean, I guess I had an idea that people would love this movie, but in no way, shape or form could I have thought it was going to be as big as it has been."

Although there were calls for No Way Home to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture, another of its Spider-Man actors, Andrew Garfield, said he was satisfied with the film's success and didn't think it needed an Oscar to validate that. "I don't know," he explained regarding the fan campaign for a nomination. "I mean, it's the sixth biggest movie in the history of movies... But I personally feel pretty satisfied with the audience response. I think that's plenty.”

For those who look forward to pausing the film for bathroom breaks in the future, as Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available for digital download and on Blu-ray and DVD.
