There shouldn’t be any boundaries to making theories for the Marvel universe, seeing as the comic books have shown outrageous stuff on repeated occasions and this practice continues to go on. However, the MCU has kept itself realistic with good explanations for its storylines.

That hasn’t stopped people from coming up with crazy theories, though, but we do have to point out that comic book readers won’t find these theories hard to believe considering what they’ve already seen in print. With that said, here are 10 MCU theories for future movies that make use of elements from the comics and are combined with the film universe’s storylines.

10 Nightmare Has Doctor Strange Trapped In The Dream Dimension

It’s expected that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will have elements of horror, the likes of what The New Mutants is supposed to be. One of the theories to bring this about is the scenario which speculates that the villain Nightmare might come into play.

Comic book fans know Nightmare well as one of Doctor Strange’s chief rivals, being an entity who rules over the Dream Dimension, a world where human minds are tormented while they sleep. The idea is that this dimension might be what is doubling as the multiverse in question within the film.

9 Thanos Was Sent To Lady Death

You don’t need too much of an introduction to Lady Death if you’re aware of Thanos’ story from the source material. We saw him be snapped by Iron Man at the end of Avengers: Endgame, but we don’t know where he went after he got dusted.

Under this theory we have the possibility that Thanos went to literal Death after Iron Man’s snap, and he’s now in the company of the entity he was desperately in love with in the comics. A twist like this would be huge in the MCU.

8 The Skrulls Are Actually Bad And Looking To Invade

Those who’ve only seen the MCU will be under the assumption that the Skrulls are a benevolent race who were just misunderstood. This belief was furthered after the Skrulls worked for Nick Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

But you should know what this theory is getting at if you’re familiar with the comics. That’s right, the theory’s looking into the “Secret Invasion” angle and that the MCU will incorporate it by having the secret be that the Skrulls willingly let themselves be known in order to be trusted and then hatch their plan to invade.

7 Loki Will Return In A Female Form

Unlike shows like Doctor Who where the character has turned permanently into a female incarnation, this theory claims that Loki will be in Thor: Love and Thunder deliberately under the guise of a woman. This shouldn’t come as a surprise for comic book readers, as Loki has done this several times there.

He’s been known to shapeshift to various creatures and forms, but so far the MCU has only shown him using illusions rather than changing shapes. The idea here is that the whole movie will go by with a new female character acting as Thor’s ally, only for her to be revealed as Loki near the end.

6 The Nova Corps Rebuild Xandar

The film series has made Xandar’s forces to look like a bunch of chumps as the Nova Corps were easily beaten by Thanos offscreen in Avengers: Infinity War. Comic book fans know it’s not as easy to topple these forces as they have the Nova Prime to guide them.

With the MCU looking to expand its universe, a theory is that we could have an entirely separate movie based on Xandar where the fallout from Thanos’ attack is shown. Here, we’d see the Nova Prime take charge and fight off the remaining bad guys and help rebuild Xandar with the Nova Corps.

5 Thaddeus Ross Wanted To Become The Hulk (And Will)

It seems far-fetched that the MCU will revisit the idea of gamma radiation over a decade after the Hulk was introduced, but since She-Hulk is meant to debut, theories are up over who she’ll be facing. One of the crazier ones is that we could see William Hurt play a CGI villain.

That would be the Red Hulk that Thaddeus Ross became in the comics, which is an idea that the casual MCU-only fan would laugh at since a red-colored Hulk would sound silly on paper. Comic book fans know, though, of the danger that this Red Hulk could pose.

4 Future Thor Will Make Current Thor See His Worth

We’ve previously looked into the impact the crazy story “War of the Realms” had and everything that happened in it. If you followed this arc then you’ll remember how multiple Thors encountered each other across time.

The theory is that the hero will find his true calling in the MCU in Thor: Love and Thunder when the future King Thor will appear to him and tell him what his worth is. Time travel has already been seen in this series, so a possibility to see Thor from past, present, and future might be an “out there” idea that could very well come true.

3 Mephisto Is Controlling Spider-Man's Life

It’s been a while now since the publication of the story where Spider-Man made a deal with Mephisto to bring back Aunt May from the jaws of death by erasing his history, but we could have something similar in the MCU according to this theory.

Here, we could have an explanation to Peter’s identity being secret again after it was exposed in Spider-Man: Far From Home by having him deal with Mephisto. This way, the events of the previous movie would be erased and we might have the likes of Uncle Ben or Tony Stark living once more. It’s one of the crazier theories, but comic book fans will agree similar crazy things have happened before.

2 Adam Warlock Will Bring The Infinity Stones Back

For readers of Marvel comics, the association with Infinity Stones will always be with Adam Warlock and no-one else. He was the one most in focus during the “Infinity Gauntlet” story arc and fans would love for this to be carried forward in film.

Due to this, a theory is that Adam Warlock’s debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will have him bring the Infinity Stones back in order to balance the universe once more. The story would pretty much be about the Guardians taking Warlock across space to reassemble the stones and the gauntlet.

1 Nadia Van Dyne Was Black Widow's Friend

If you’re purely a movie fan you’ll be scratching your head at the mention of Nadia, but comic book fans will remember that she was Hank Pym’s real first daughter. When Hank’s first wife was killed, Nadia was abducted and taken to be raised in the Red Room before eventually escaping and becoming the Wasp.

The mention of the Red Room will make you understand where this theory is coming from, as this was the place where Natasha Romanoff was shown to be raised in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now that her own solo film is arriving, the theory suggests that we might also see Nadia Van Dyne appear and there be a friendship between the characters because of their association with the Red Room.
