As things now stand, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the most profitable film franchise of all time. Creating the idea of a shared film universe was a groundbreaking idea on its own, but also having multiple extremely successful blockbuster film franchises is a great accomplishment as well.
What truly makes the MCU iconic is its long list of iconic characters. Character interaction is what MCU fans are always dying for. They can't get enough of it. What characters will get along? Which ones will hate each other? Even more interestingly, which characters will fall in love? Fans ask themselves that last question all the time and often make up dream scenarios in their head of their favorite characters falling in love. Here are ten MCU dream couples that we wish would happen.
10 Thanos & Hela
In the Marvel comic books, Thanos is not motivated by a need to balance the populations of the universe. Instead, he wishes to please the female embodiment of death. Death served as a great character in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline.
Death has yet to show up in the MCU. Many fan theories suggested that, instead of her, Thanos may fall in love with established MCU villain Hela. This pairing would make a lot of sense in the movies, as both characters are rulers hell-bent on creating multi-planet empires.
9 Captain America & Black Widow
Throughout the many adventures that Black Widow and Captain America have been on together, these two characters have continued to grow closer and closer to one another. At several points in the series, it almost seemed as though they had romantic feelings for one another.
As cool as that would have been to see, it's probably for the best that they never got together. It may be a fun fantasy, but what really made Steve and Nat's relationship unique and compelling was the fact that they remained platonic.
8 War Machine & Captain Marvel
Close to the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, these two characters had a brief moment speaking to each other that showed they already trust one another. In the many years between Infinity War and Endgame, there's no telling how close they may have gotten to one another.
In the comic books, Carol Danvers and James Rhodey form a very passionate romantic relationship. Given their shared service to the country, they had enough in common to form quite a strong bond. Maybe we'll get to see this pairing hit the big screen sometime in the future.
7 Drax & Mantis
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Drax and Mantis really seemed to hit it off. Although Drax made it very clear that he could not have been less attracted to Mantis, they still managed to connect on a very deep emotional level by the end of the film.
Sometimes it's better for characters to remain platonic. Much like Captain America and Black Widow, it's probably best that they remain friends. Nonetheless, a possible relationship between the two still seems pretty great.
6 Captain Marvel & Valkyrie
Many fans were clamoring for this pairing, and it's still might possibly happen in the years to come. Both characters are strong leaders who have a history of not backing down from a fight.
We have yet to see how Carol Danvers identifies in terms of sexual attraction, but if it turns out she is at all interested in other women, Valkyrie and Carol would compliment each other quite nicely.
5 Shuri & Spider-Man
A Shuri-Spidey relationship would be the most dynamic and interesting relationship in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. The two teenage heroes have so much in common, and yet they also have many interesting differences that would create very interesting interactions between the two.
Both love science and inventing things, and they are very funny. A great juxtaposition that could be explored between the two is, despite their very similar personalities, Shuri is royalty while Parker is just a kid from Queens.
4 Maria Hill & Nick Fury
Nick Fury and Maria Hill have been side by side for all of the MCU's three phases. It seems as though there is no one person Fury trusts more in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe than his loyal partner from back in the S.H.I.E.L.D. days. In a world full of heroes that's saying something.
Seeing a relationship form between these characters would be a real treat. Such a reveal would leave some fans dumbfounded while others would claim they knew it all along.
3 Lady Sif & Thor
It was made evidently clear in the first couple of Thor movies that Lady Sif was in love with her fellow Asgardian warrior. Thor was either completely oblivious to these feelings or was simply trying to ignore them.
Either way, they do seem to be made for one another. In the comics, these two characters have had several passionate flings and in some realities, they have in fact ended up together. There are plenty of Marvel movies and TV shows yet to come that may still give us a chance to explore this possibility.
2 Captain Marvel & Thor
These two are the most powerful heroes on the Avengers. As such, they would make quite the power couple. Given that they are both currently single and roaming the cosmos, it might actually be a possibility that they get together.
In their meeting, when Thor first sized Carol up, it was evidently apparent that they had a strong mutual respect for one another. After fighting alongside each other some more, it's hard not to imagine some sparks beginning to fly between the two.
1 Black Widow & Hawkeye
If not for that pesky family of Clint's, this no doubt would have already happened. All kidding aside, there doesn't seem to be any other male/female combo in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe that is as close to one another as Hawkeye is to Black Widow.
Yet again, this is a case where it is better they remain friends. Fans can't help but imagine otherwise, however, considering how good of a couple they would surely be.
