We don't exactly watch superhero movies and TV series for the romance, but it's often a package deal. Much like the comic books they're based on, these live-action adaptations feature an appropriate dose of romance and the relationship drama that goes with it. Tony has Pepper, Steve had Peggy, Star-Lord is looking for someone as pathetic as him, Fitz and Simmons finally found each other, and even Luke Cage settled on one type of coffee -- so to speak. Of course, the relationship drama in the MCU doesn't come even remotely close to the stuff that goes around in the Arrowverse, which is a good thing. Still, there are tons of memes about MCU couples.

Memes are used to convey various messages, including the thoughts and feelings fans have about certain pairings in their favorite movies and TV shows. Some of the MCU couples, like Fitzsimmons, are quite simply adored and put on a pedestal. Others, like Black Widow and the Hulk, haven't really endeared themselves to the fans and often find themselves as the target of criticism. But, today we're not here to list the good and the bad couples of the MCU, we're here to look at these 15 hilarious memes about MCU couples.

15 SPIDEY FOUND TRUE LOVE

Spider-Man's Evolving Motivations

In the last two decades we saw three different versions of Peter Parker grace the big screen. First, there was the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire as the titular hero and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, Peter’s second love interest. Then, came the Marc Webb remake The Amazing Spider-Man, with Andrew Garfield as the webslinger and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Peter’s first love.

So, when time came for Marvel to finally introduce Spidey into the MCU, the question on everyone’s mind was: who will we get to see this time -- Mary Jane or Gwen? As it turned out, neither. Well, kind of MJ, but with a twist. However, the point is, Tom Holland’s Spidey doesn’t quite fit the bill of a lovestruck teenager. Instead, he just wants to be an Avenger.

14 SHIP IT LIKE HULK

Hulk the Shipper

Adapting bits and pieces from iconic comic book storylines, featuring a wide cast of characters, set to an upbeat soundtrack, full of color, packed with humor, and way more profound than it had any right to be, Thor: Ragnarok is among the best Marvel movies yet. That said, it was impossible not to take note of the absence of two important female characters from the previous two Thor movies.

We’re talking, of course, about the fearless, Lady Sif, and Thor’s brilliant scientist girlfriend, Jane Foster. According to this hilarious meme, Thor’s friend from work also noticed the lack of Jane and, especially Lady Sif. As it turns out, Hulk ships Thor with the Asgardian warrior Lady Sif. Given that his relationship with Jane is over, perhaps Thor should listen to his friend’s advice.

13 THEY’VE GOT HIS NUMBER

T'Challa Never Freezes

Black Panther had a lot of awesome comedy moments. At the very beginning of the movie, Okoyo warns T’Challa not to freeze when he sees his ex, Nakia. T’Challa, of course, brushes it off as if it were a ludicrous idea, only to freeze in front of Nakia moments later. But, Okoyo is not the only one who has T’Challa all figured out. Both his mother and his sister know him too well and expected him to freeze too.

And while this moment was hilarious, the real punchline came towards the end of the movie. After being supposedly killed by Killmonger, T’Challa is found by the Jabari Tribe and placed on ice in order to stay alive. So, what was that you said about never freezing, King T'Challa?

12 PROUD PARENTS

May and Coulson and the Kids

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came such a long way from season one. After getting off to a rocky start, the show kept on getting better season after season. And to think that it all started when Agent Phil Coulson and Agent Melinda May decided to adopt a bunch of kids, board the Quinjet and set out to protect the world from threats -- alien and non-alien alike. At the time, it seemed like S.H.I.E.L.D. was gonna be a procedural with a twist. But appearances can be deceiving.

The proud parents, May and Coulson, kept adopting uniquely skilled kids and as time went by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. somehow transformed into a show about LMDs, virtual reality frameworks, time travel, space, Inhumans, Kree colonization, and so much more. As for mom and dad, they might finally be getting together. Unless Coulson dies that is.

11 THE MARVEL OTP

The Best Marvel Couple

Over the years we’ve seen a lot of power couples in Marvel movies, as well as TV shows. Some were loved, others were hated, almost all were controversial in some way. Although, romance is not the focus of MCU movies and TV series, there are plenty of couples -- both canon and non-canon -- to go around.

But who among all of these couples is the ultimate Marvel OTP? Well, it depends on whom you ask. Fitzsimmons, Peggy Carter and Steve Rogers, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are common contenders for the OTP of the Marvel Cinematic Universe award. However, if we’re being honest, Marvel’s real OTP is not a fictional couple, but Stan Lee and his late wife Joan. These two were married for 70 years. Wrap your head around that.

10 CAN I COPY YOUR HOMEWORK?

Copy Paste

Once seen, cannot be unseen. And this is definitely something we’ll have a hard time getting out of our heads. The relationship between Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff is a highly controversial one. Fans are arguing that the romance between the two Avengers came completely out of left field, as well as that the couple has no chemistry together.

And if we’re being honest, we were also surprised by this turn of events. We can't help but wonder how Marvel came up with this particular pairing, when Natasha and Clint were arguably the more logical and natural choice. One fan seems to have found the source of Marvel’s inspiration. Well, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The people over at Marvel must love Shrek.

9 LOLA’S GETTING MARRIED

Lola's Husband

That moment when a car finds its significant other and you're still single. Ouch. We knew Coulson loved his car -- probably more than is recommended, but we had no idea he was looking for a husband for Lola. Or perhaps Coulson just likes the other car’s owner and he’s playing some kind of a game to get Rosalind to go out with him.

Whatever the reason, if Coulson plays his cards right Lola might be heading down the aisle with Rosalind’s nameless male car. We have no idea how that would work, nor do we care to find out, but we wish them a lifetime of happiness. Everyone deserves to find love and have a fulfilling life and apparently that includes collectible cars. Good on you, Lola.

8 SKYEWARD SHIPPERS

Skyeward Shippers

There was a time back in season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when Skyeward ship was almost as popular as Fitzsimmons. Of course, by now, we all know that relationship didn't quite work out. Towards the end of the first season, it was revealed that Ward is Hydra and all hopes for a Skye and Ward romance promptly disappeared. For Skyeward shippers this happened at the worst possible moment, because the couple had just had their very first kiss. Talk about bad timing.

Naturally, shippers didn't give up that easily, secretly and desperately holding out hope that Ward could somehow be redeemed. Surprisingly enough, this ship still lives until this very day, despite the fact the writers have pretty much tanked it long time ago.

7 COFFEE ACCORDING TO LUKE CAGE

Luke Cage's Coffee

Luke Cage’s extracirruclar activities are a limitless source of memes. Honestly, we could have probably made an entire list of memes about Luke and the women in his life. Although, it would get pretty repetitive pretty fast. The short version of the story behind these memes is this: Luke Cage is a womanizer and he’s dated Jessica Jones, Claire Temple and Misty Knight. Luke Cage’s favorite pick-up like, which for some reason always works, is "let’s get some coffee."

The coffee almost always translates to Luke hooking up with the woman, which is how this hilarious meme came to be. To most people, coffee is just coffee. However, every time we hear Luke use the word "coffee" we can’t help but think of this meme.

6 YOU KNOW HE CAN'T SEE THAT

Claire Temple's House

Let us just state for the record that Claire Temple is the best thing that’s ever happened to the Marvel’s Netflixverse, period. She’s a ray of sunshine in the grim world filled with damaged and broken heroes, anti-heroes and nutjobs. Claire made her debut in Daredevil and for a brief period of time she had a thing with Matt Murdock. Matt, naturally, screwed it up, but they ended their relationship on amicable terms.

Claire was clearly fed up with Matt’s dangerous obsession with getting beaten up on a daily basis and then startling her in the middle of the night in search for medical attention. Apparently, Claire’s decided to undertake some drastic measures to prevent Matt from harassing her again. Unfortunately, she might have forgotten that Matt can’t see her message.

5 SIMMONS HAS ZERO CHILL

Fitzsimmons Proposal

We’ve all been waiting for a Fitzsimmons proposal ever since we first laid eyes on these two adorable nerds. They’ve been through so much together, more than anyone should ever go through in two lifetimes, but their love survived all of it. And not only did it survive, it grew stronger. You’d have to be pretty hard pressed to find an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fan who doesn’t ship Fitzsimmons.

The long-awaited proposal finally happened in the fifth season and pretty soon we witnessed the couple tie the knot in a beautiful ceremony accompanied by their closest friends, and an all grown up grandson, no less. Although Fitz proposed first -- and it was a beautifully worded proposal -- Jemma could not hear him. So, technically, Jemma’s no-chill proposal is the one that counts.

4 THE BEST SHIP

Friendship

To say that the relationships in Jessica Jones are unhealthy would be the understatement of the year. Whichever way you look at it, none of the couples on either season could possibly have a future. Jessica and Luke were a good match, but she killed his wife. Trish hooked up with the guy who attempted to kill her - and mind-controlled or not that’s just disconcerting. And we’re not even gonna get into the whole Kilgrave mess.

Throughout the entirety of season one, the healthiest relationship on the show was Jessica and Trish’s friendship. These two were there for each other through thick and thin and we really enjoyed their friendship. Of course, season two did a 180 on their relationship, but let’s not touch on that right now. For those thirteen episodes of season one, Jessica and Trish were the best ship.

3 WOULD YOU GIVE THESE GUYS A BREAK?

Leave Fitzsimmons Alone

If we didn’t know any better we’d think the writers on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hated Fitz and Simmons. Torturing your characters is a valid writing technique, however, what Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon did to this poor couple is almost unprecedented. Nevertheless, through all the pain and suffering Fitz and Simmons persisted.

Still, watching them weather the storm every damn season became pretty emotionally exhausting. The show did such an amazing job developing these characters and their relationship that it made us care deeply about every little thing that happens in their lives. All the hardships that Fitzsimmons went through affected us profoundly and we’re just hoping that the writers can leave them alone at least for a while. Though, going by the events of last episode that doesn’t seem to be the plan.

2 TOO MUCH COFFEE COULD KILL YOU... LITERALLY

Don't Drink Too Much Coffee

Luke Cage is a handsome man, we’ll admit as much. Not that this should need to be stated, given that he managed to seduce these three amazing women of the Netflixverse. First, he started a relationship, or something, with Jessica Jones. After that didn’t quite work out he met Misty Knight and… asked her out for coffee. And well, we all know how that ended.

Finally, Luke ran into an acquaintance, the resident superhero nurse -- Claire Temple, whom he also took out for coffee. If you know what we mean. This six-foot-three womanizer sure gets around, but what happens when all of these women find themselves in the same room? Well, for starters, Luke starts seriously questioning his addiction to coffee and its consequences.

1 MAKE UP YOUR MIND JEMMA

Fitzsimmons

Rarely do we get to see a relationship as profound, honest and heartening as Fitz and Simmons. Everything from the moment these two were introduced was building up to a truly timeless love story. Just observe the looks these two give each other and you'll know that they are simply meant to be together -- as cheesy as that may sound.

While Jemma’s feelings weren’t as obvious as Fitz’s at the beginning, we could still tell that he meant more to her than just a friend and colleague. As for Fitz, it was always evident that Jemma was the only thing he cared about in the world. He went to extreme lengths for her sake and more than once. So, when she said that she didn’t know how she felt about him we were extremely upset. Luckily, it all worked out in the end.
