Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg was absent from Marvel Studios' massive “class photo” featuring the primary cast of each Marvel Cinematic Universe film, but he was invited to take part in it. On Twitter, the Avengers alum revealed that he missed the photo because of his New York Comic Con appearance.
"So sad I couldn’t make this shoot. Honored to be part of MCU," he wrote on Twitter shortly after the photo was released. "I was proudly repping Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at Madison Square Garden for New York Comic Con." He also shared a photo of himself and the rest of the core S.H.I.E.L.D. cast at the aforementioned convention.
Of course, Gregg is hardly the only MCU star missing from the photo. For instance, Tom Hiddleston -- better known as Loki -- is notably absent. Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Jeff Bridges (Obadiah Stane), Stanley Tucci (Dr. Abraham Erskine), Jaimie Alexander (Sif), Cate Blanchett (Hela) are just a few of the other MCU alums missing as well.
Gregg has been a part of the MCU since the very beginning, debuting as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson in 2008's Iron Man. He subsequently appeared in Iron Man 2 and Thor, before his character united The Avengers with his "death" in the 2012 blockbuster. Gregg's Coulson was resurrected for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and has starred in all five seasons of the Marvel TV spinoff -- though he may not be a part of the show for very much longer, thanks to his team's little trip to the future.
Returning Friday, March 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Ian De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge, Nick Blood, Jeff Ward, Eve Harlow, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Coy Stewart.
