Former Daredevil and The Defenders star Charlie Cox would love to see Krysten Ritter and Jon Bernthal return as Jessica Jones and the Punisher, respectively.

Cox spoke to Forbes about his new AMC+ show, Kin, before the outlet brought things around to Daredevil and the Marvel Netflix series. Cox doesn't want to dwell on rumors of Daredevil's return, worried that it might ruin his future chances with Marvel. As for any other actors joining the MCU proper, he's in the dark.

"I don't know what the politics are, I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes," Cox said. "I don't know any of that stuff... I don't know what the rules are, the deal that Netflix made... Whatever I say it can be taken out of context and it could be a headline that could mean something, so I'm just a little careful with what I say now."

Cox isn't alone, as many fans are unclear what the end of the Netflix shows means for the future of the characters in the MCU. It's been said that Marvel has regained the rights to the characters, meaning they could pop up in a movie or Disney+ show, but no one knows whether the existing shows could wind up on the streaming service.

But what about the actors reprising their roles in the main MCU universe? Cox doesn't know anything for sure, but when asked about rumors that Bernthal will return as Punisher, he said he'd love to see it happen.

"The only thing I'll say is I don't know who could do a better version of The Punisher than Jon Bernthal," Cox answered. "And that character is beloved, people are crazy for Frank Castle. So if they're going to do it again, I hope they do it with him because I don't think it gets better than that."

While the outlet didn't bring up Ritter's Jessica Jones, Cox was keen to single out the fan-favorite actor as well.

"I feel the same way about Krysten Ritter," Cox added. "I know that Jessica Jones, the character isn't quite as well known as Frank Castle is, but what a performance. What a great show that was."

Like Bernthal's tenure as Frank Castle, Ritter's Jones was highly praised by fans and critics alike. Currently, there are rumors that she'll return on She-Hulk. And Ritter is down to play Jessica again, should Marvel come calling.

Cox's show Kin airs Thursdays on AMC+.
