Now that Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, is getting her self-titled origin movie, Black Widow, over a decade after her first appearance in the MCU, fans are wondering if other characters in the franchise may soon get the same treatment. After all, there are plenty of characters introduced with as little fanfare as Black Widow.

While there are heroes like Vision whose lives are practically seen in their entirety, other characters seem to simply spring from the Earth. Fans of the universe would love to see origin movies for some of these characters, especially now that Black Widow has set a precedent for giving them.

10 Hawkeye Got As Much Of An Introduction As Black Widow Did

Hawkeye in the MCU with his bow and arrow

Much like Black Widow, Hawkeye was introduced in the background of a different Avenger’s movie. While Black Widow was brought in in the back of Iron Man 2, Hawkeye played an incredibly minor role in Thor.

The character will be receiving a bit more of a focused story with the upcoming show Hawkeye, but that story will see him passing the torch onto Kate Bishop. Fans would love to see how Hawkeye became Hawkeye in the first place, before he, too, leaves the MCU for good.

9 Nebula Has A Compelling, Yet Unexplored, Backstory

Nebula from the MCU

While viewers have now seen most of Gamora’s life, her adoptive sister, Nebula, has remained somewhat unexplored. She, too, was raised alongside Gamora as Thanos’ daughter, but she was not treated half so well. Thanos pit the sisters against one another often, leading to the two of them being antagonistic rivals for most of their lives.

While Nebula starts out as a villain, she eventually joins up with her sister and becomes one of the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as an Avenger. Fans would love to see who Nebula is and was, and how she became who she is, just as they saw Gamora’s story.

8 Rocket Raccoon Is An Incredibly Intriguing Figure In Many Ways

Rocket Raccoon

The fact that Rocket Raccoon exists as an entity at all is extremely compelling. Rocket is from Halfworld, where animals are genetically engineered to have humanoid intelligence and personality, in order to give them enough awareness to fight back against being enslaved.

Rocket is a scientifically engineered raccoon who has also become a master of weaponry and a mercenary in his own right. An origin movie seeing how Rocket came to be — and how he came to team up with Groot — would be more than welcomed by MCU fans who want to see more of these peculiarly spectacular characters.

7 Black Panther Has A Rich History People Would Love To See

Fans already know that T’Challa’s story will not be continuing. Tragically, actor Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed T’Challa, passed away in August of 2020. Kevin Feige announced afterwards that T’Challa would not be recast — nor did anybody want him to be.

However, fans are wondering if there might be a Black Panther origin movie waiting to be made. The story could be about T’Challa in the past, portrayed by a younger actor while he was a very young man. However, the story could also be an origin movie about the new Black Panther — whoever they may be.

6 Thor Is Over One Thousand Years Old — And So Much Of That Is Unexplored

Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok

It was revealed in Avengers: Infinity War that Thor is over a thousand years old. In fact, he’s actually roughly 1,500 years old — which means that he has about 1,488 years, roughly, that are unexplored in the franchise before his introduction.

With so much potential material, there are so many incredible stories that could make for solid Thor origin movies. Because Thor wasn’t the best received of all the MCU’s movies, giving Thor and Loki a second chance at an origin movie would certainly be interesting to see.

5 Korg’s Rebellious Past Would Make For A Humorous Movie

Korg in Thor Ragnarok

One of the most humorous characters in the entire MCU is Korg. He was only introduced in Thor: Ragnarok, but he quickly made an impression on people from that moment on. Korg was not only hilarious, but he was also heartfelt. Thor met Korg on Sakaar, where Korg informed Thor that he had previously attempted to lead a revolution, which is how he ended up on Sakaar in the first place.

Korg actually says that his revolution didn’t succeed because he didn’t print enough pamphlets, and so barely anybody showed up, except for his mother and her boyfriend. He even makes a point to say he hates his mother’s boyfriend. All of these small details have intrigued fans enough that they want to see an origin movie about the character.

4 Hank Pym Never Got Enough Time To Be Ant-Man

Hank Pym explains how the suit works in Ant-Man

It was a shock to many viewers that, when Ant-Man was introduced to the MCU, he wasn’t Hank Pym — he was Scott Lang. Scott may be the second Ant-Man, but he quickly won people over. Now, they wouldn’t want to have anyone but Scott Lang be Ant-Man in the MCU.

However, this still means that Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, barely got any space in the role. Practically the only way to solve this problem would be to give the franchise an Ant-Man origin movie focused specifically on Hank Pym and how he originated the heroic character.

3 Nick Fury Could Tell A S.H.I.E.L.D. Story — Or Even A Skrull Story

Amongst other side characters who are on the older side, with rich histories of their own, Nick Fury stands out against the rest. He is the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the one who recruits Tony Stark to the Avengers Initiative in the first place.

However, his role before the events of the MCU are not quite as well-known. The franchise dipped back into his story by involving him in Captain Marvel, but going even further back to see how Nick Fury became the super-powerful figure he is by the beginning of the MCU.

2 Valkyrie’s Origin Story Fascinated Even Thor In-Universe

valkyrie from thor ragnarok

Much like Korg, Valkyrie was only introduced in Thor: Ragnarok. However, as this movie is one of the best in the franchise, there are multiple characters in the film who are deserving of their own origin movies. There are perhaps no characters in the movie, however, more deserving of their own origin movie than Valkyrie.

Even Thor is a huge fan of Valkyrie in-universe, as Thor comments to her that he was basically a fan of her and the Valkyries growing up. Seeing what Valkyrie was like as a warrior — and even her life afterwards, and how she got to Sakaar — would make for an incredible movie.

1 Thanos Did So Much Before Appearing In The MCU

Thanos faces the Avengers for the last time

Like Thor and other celestial characters, Thanos is older than many human characters in the MCU, and thus has had many more years of experience than others. He appeared for the first time in the post-credits scene for The Avengers; however, before that, he had to become the person who would want to collect the Infinity Stones.

For someone to be driven to such extreme measures as Thanos has been in the MCU must be a truly intense story, which was briefly touched on in the films however. To see his life in more detail would shed even more light on his actions, and perhaps even retroactively improve his arc in the universe.
