Superman: Speeding Bullets is a 1993 Elseworlds one-shot created by writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Eduardo Barreto. Instead of crashing in Smallville, Superman: Speeding Bullets sees an infant Kal-El discovered on Earth by Thomas and Martha Wayne, Batman's parents in traditional DC continuity. The two adopt the child and name him Bruce.

Martha and Thomas are both killed by Joe Chill in Crime Alley during Bruce's childhood; however, it's during the same moment when Bruce also discovers he has superpowers as he brutally murders Chill with his laser vision. Still unable to save his adopted parents, Bruce grows up to become a different version of Batman who, apart from Alfred, lives a lonely and isolated life. Similar to the main DC Universe's Bruce Wayne, he becomes obsessed with protecting the city of Gotham from criminals and eventually creates a Batman costume for himself.

After learning about his alien origins from Alfred, Speeding Bullets' Bruce later crosses paths with Lex Luthor, who moves to Gotham and tries to buy out Wayne Enterprises before becoming a different version of the Joker, and Lois Lane. Superman: Speeding Bullets ends with Bruce deciding to give up being the Dark Knight and instead begins operating under the Man of Steel mantle.

McFarlane Toys also recently announced the first wave of a new line of DC Super Powers figures and toys. Included in the first wave are Batman, Superman and Darkseid action figures, as well as Batwing and Supermobile vehicles. "Different sizes, different scales and different characters," Todd McFarlane said in the announcement video. "Obviously, you're going to get bad guys, you're going to get some good guys and you're going to get some of your favorites that are in there." Other recent offerings from McFarlane Toys additionally include a new line of Page Punchers, which come with an action figure and a single-issue comic book related to the character.
