'Maze Runner' Actress in Early Talks For 'Pirates 5'

Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales might bring The Maze Runner star Kaya Scodelario into the fold.

Deadline reports the 22-year-old actress, whose breakthrough performance came on the U.K. drama Skins, is in early talks play the role directly opposite Brenton Thwaites' Henry.

If she does sign on to the film, helmed by Kin-Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, Scodelario will join a cast that includes Thwaites, Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Javier Bardem as the villain.

In December the shortlist of actresses for the role was said to also include Lucy Boynton (Miss Potter), Jenna Thiam (The Returned), Gabriella Wilde (Carrie), and Alexandra Dowling (Hammer of the Gods), but Scodelario seems to have shown the brightest.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sets sail into theaters on July 7, 2017.
