WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Mayans M.C. Season 3, Episode 10, "Chapter the Last, Nothing More to Write," which aired Tuesday on FX.

Coco's arc in Mayans M.C. Season 3 has been wildly dark. After sustaining a life-changing injury in Season 2, Coco became addicted to oxycodone, and a botched robbery attempt on Meth Mountain led to him being forced to use heroin. From there, Isaac -- a big wig on Meth Mountain -- used photos of Coco using heroin to blackmailing him, as intravenous drug use is forbidden by the Santo Padre Mayans. And while it seemed likely Coco's plot would end with his death, the Mayans M.C. finale, "Chapter the Last, Nothing More to Write," kills off an entirely different character.

At the end of Mayans M.C.'s previous episode, "The House of Death Floats By," Coco went to Meth Mountain to rescue his girlfriend, Hope. However, he was soon ambushed by Isaac, who promised to torture the Santo Padre member before killing him. It's not totally clear how much time passes between "The House of Death Floats By" and "Chapter the Last, Nothing More to Write," but in the latter episode, Leticia goes to Gilly for help. At first, he refuses and tells her that she's on her own, as Coco has been kicked out of the Santo Padre Mayans as a result of his absences.

In the end, though, Gilly relents and heads to Meth Mountain. Inside one of the trailers, Isaac tortures Coco, repeatedly threatening to shoot him before pulling back. Soon, though, there's an explosion at another one of the trailers that draws Isaac outside. Initially, Isaac thinks that a drug lab exploded, but when another trailer goes up in flames, he realizes what's going on and rushes back to check on Coco.

Coco, for his part, has left with Gilly, though he's insisted on finding Hope. After coming out of her trailer, Coco and Gilly find Isaac and his cronies outside -- and they've got Hope. A showdown ensues in which Isaac is unwilling to give up Hope, and Coco won't leave without. Soon, though, Hope tells Coco that Isaac won't let her go, and he seems to relent and start leaving with Gilly. However, before he leaves, Coco overhears Isaac talking about how he's going to kill Hope. This causes the Santo Padre Mayan to grab a gun and shoot Isaac in the throat. In the end, Isaac's lieutenant tells Coco and Gilly to go -- and take Hope with them.

While it's not guaranteed that Isaac is dead, it's extremely unlikely that he survived the shot to his throat. As such, Coco is free from his blackmail for now, and that may end up helping him to avoid any blowback for having stolen heroin from the club at the behest of Isaac. That being said, Coco is still going to have to explain his absence and drug use, which means his survival is not yet guaranteed.

Created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, Mayans M.C. stars J.D. Pardo as EZ Reyes, Clayton Cardenas as Angel Reyes, Sarah Bolger as Emily Galindo, Michael Irby as Obispo "Bishop" Losa, Carla Baratta as Luisa "Adelita" Espina, Richard Cabral as Johnny "Coco" Cruz, Raoul Trujillo as Che "Taza" Romero, Danny Pino as Miguel Galindo, Edward James Olmos as Felipe Reyes and Emilio Rivera as Marcus Álvarez. Season 3 is available now on Hulu. Season 4 will release in 2022.
