Not much is known about Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but the cinematographer for the movie has finally been revealed as the Academy Award-winning Mauro Fiore. The reveal comes from an image of a clapper used during production of the 2018 film.
Recognized at the Academy Awards for his work filming James Cameron's Avatar, Fiore is exceptionally experienced -- which is good news for fans of the X-Men franchise. More recently, the cinematographer has worked on Training Day, Real Steel, The Equalizer, and The Magnificent Seven.
Just yesterday, director Simon Kinberg confirmed that the movie has finished filming. The film, which is Fox's second attempt of the iconic '80s story The Dark Phoenix Saga, is described as a grounded take on the source material. Actress Olivia Munn, who debuted as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, has revealed that the movie may be only the first of a two-part narrative.
Opening Nov. 2, 2018, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Ship as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
