Director Matthew Vaughn is closing in on a young actor to join Colin Firth in the Fox adaptation of The Secret Service.
Based on the six-issue miniseries by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, The Secret Service follows super-spy Jack London (Firth), who takes his working-class nephew Gary under his tutelage to train in espionage and covert-ops. (You can read the entire first issue at Comic Book Resources.)
According to Variety, Jack O’Connell (Skins, 300: Rise of an Empire), John Boyega (Attack the Block) and Christian Cooke (Magic City) are set to test for the role of the young agent, which “is expected to be something that could launch a career.”Earlier reports indicated that Fox had pursued Vaughn’s Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was unavailable, a studio insider suggest that Fox could go back to him with a better offer if it’s decided a bigger actor is needed.
