Mere days after Warner Bros. announced the start of principal photography on The Dark Knight Rises comes word that the Christopher Nolan film has added three more cast members.

Variety reports that Matthew Modine, who starred as Private Joker in Full Metal Jacket, will play a character named Nixon in the director’s third and final Batman movie. Veteran Scottish actor Tom Conti (Reuben, Reuben, The Tempest) and 11-year-old Joey King (Ramona and Beezus, Battle: Los Angeles) have also joined the ensemble, in undisclosed roles.

The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. In addition, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Nestor Carbonell, Daniel Sunjata, Burn Gorman and Diego Klattenhoff have been reported, but mostly unconfirmed, for supporting roles.

The film, which opens on July 20, 2012, will shoot in India, England, Scotland, Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles.
