In a familiar play, The Batman director Matt Reeves has once again employed social media to reveal the newest addition to the cast of his DC film."I said... #CarmineFalcone," Reeves tweeted with a GIF of John Turturro from The Big Lebowski, confirming the actor's role in the film.

Carmine "The Roman" Falcone was created by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli and debuted in 1986's Batman #404 -- part of the seminal "Year One" storyline. A mob boss a la Salvatore Maroni, Falcone would go on to appear in other such classic Batman tales as The Long Halloween. The character has also had past live-action incarnations on Gotham and in Batman Begins.

Turturro will join a number of other rogues in Reeves' film; In October, it was announced that Zoe Kravitz had been cast as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman. Then, just days later, we learned that Paul Dano would play Edward Nashton/The Riddler. And finally, it was reported that Colin Farrell was in talks to play Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin.

Starring Robert Pattinson, The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, who will also produce alongside Dylan Clark. While casting is still underway, the film is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.
