The Batman director Matt Reeves has a long plan for the franchise, and not all of it comes from DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Speaking with Yahoo Entertainment, Reeves confirmed that he's already spoken both with Gunn and Safran about the future of The Batman, saying, "We've talked a few times, I'm supposed to get together with him and Peter sometimes this month. They've been working feverishly on what they're doing, and I've been working hard with my partners on what we're doing."

According to Reeves, the plan is to sit down with Gunn and Safran and discuss the "arcs of these two things," and he's excited to hear about what they're planning. As of now, plans from the director of the Pattinson-led Batman film include a follow-up possibly co-starring Barry Keoghan as The Joker, as well as an HBO Max series centered around The Penguin, with Collin Farrell reprising the role. These plans, however, have no connection to the new DCU projects, and how they may connect are part of his impending conversation with the studio's co-chairs.

A Bat-verse Crossover in the Form of Slusho

Reeves also joked about potentially bringing the fake drink "Slusho" into his Bat-verse. Initially created by his frequent collaborator J.J. Abrams for the show Alias, the drink can be seen in ads featured in Cloverfield and Let Me In. When the director was asked if it would find its way into The Batman, he replied, "We'll see, you never know! When I did Let Me In, J.J. was just about to start Super 8, and I was like, 'Hey, are you doing a thing with Slusho? Because it would be fun if we put it in our thing, too.'"
