Matt Reeves' The Batman has secured a cinematographer in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Greig Fraser.

"It’s great to be working with Matt again," Fraser told The Hollywood Reporter. "The Batman franchise is iconic and it's a privilege to now be able to visualize it in my own way. Especially with the cumulative creative potential of all the talent and technicians we have in front of and behind the camera."

Fraser previously worked with Reeves on 2010's Let Me In, an adaption of the book Let the Right One In. Since then, Fraser has gone on to shot films such as Zero Dark ThirtyFoxcatcher, Lion (which earned him an Oscar nomination) and, of course, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The Australian director of photography is currently working on Dune alongside director Denis Villeneuve.

News of Fraser's hiring comes nearly a week after rumors first began to circulate that One Upon a Time in Hollywood cinematographer Robert Richardson had signed on to shoot The Batman. Richardson quickly went on to debunk those reports. In fact, the DP explained that he came to learn of the rumor after receiving a slew of congratulatory texts. As he would later explain, he hadn't even spoken to Reeves about the project.

The Batman will star actor Robert Pattinson in the titular role as Warner Bros., as DC looks to go in a different direction with director Matt Reeves' take on the Caped Crusader. Little is known regarding the film, outside of the fact that it will tell the tale of a younger Batman than we've seen in the DC Extended Universe thus far -- and it just may see Catwoman make her return to the big-screen. Filming on the project is expected to begin in early 2020.

The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, who will also produce alongside Dylan Clark. The film is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.
