Daredevil's bold new costume -- dubbed the "King Daredevil" look -- has been revealed by artist Marco Checchetto.

The new costume shared on Checchetto's Twitter post boasts a hood and a large collar, while Matt Murdock also sports a beard and appears considerably more grizzled than ever. The new Daredevil look falls in line with Elektra's Daredevil costume, which she first donned in 2020's Daredevil #25 after she decided to support Matt's mission to defend Hell's Kitchen on a more personal level.

Matt and Elektra are preparing for a mission to defeat the evil ninja group known as the Hand, which is currently led by the Punisher. Hints of their impending journey and the hardships they will face have already been teased, and Matt's beard and new costume were very briefly seen in July's Daredevil #1. There, the Man Without Fear declared himself the leader of the Fist -- an organization created thousands of years ago that serves to counterbalance the Hand.

Matt Murdock's Evolution

Writer Chip Zdarsky, who began penning Daredevil alongside Checchetto in 2019, told CBR in an interview that the newest iteration of the series would revolve around the Hand. He added that the book would also be a general extension of Matt Murdock's journey from Hell's Kitchen defender to a more internationally-minded hero. "Matt realized that he needs to think bigger than just street crime, and so this is where that ramps up," Zdarsky said. "...It definitely goes dark! It's about fate and decisions on a grand scale. Matt won't be swashbuckling here, he'll be fighting for his life! But, that being said, he's going to look really cool doing it... Daredevil is my magnum opus. To get the chance to tell such a long story over years at Marvel with the same primary artist is a gift. Marco and I are over the moon with how readers have supported our book, and we promise you that we're giving it our all and building to something that we think is really special."
