"Alice Through the Looking Glass" star Matt Lucas is going back through the rabbit hole, but this time he's landing on the TARDIS instead of in Wonderland. Lucas will reprise his role as Nardole in "Doctor Who" Season 10, following his earlier appearance in the Season 9 episode "The Husbands of River Song."

"I’m chuffed to bits that Nardole is returning to the TARDIS for some more adventures," Lucas said in a statement. "I loved acting with Peter [Capaldi] and I’m excited to work with Pearl [Mackie].”

“Delighted and slightly amazed to be welcoming Matt Lucas back on to the TARDIS -- and this time it’s not just for Christmas, he’s sticking around," added executive producer Steven Moffat. "One of the greatest comedy talents on planet Earth is being unleashed on all of time and space.”

Lucas is best known for his comedy roles, and his past credits includes "Shaun of the Dead" and "Bridesmaids." He also appeared in "Alice in Wonderland" as Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

"Jekyll and Hyde" star Stephanie Hyam will also appear in the new season, though it's unclear what her role will be at this time.

"Doctor Who" will return for a Christmas Special in December 2016 before Season 10 kicks off in 2017.
