Barry Allen's first nemesis, Eobard Thawne, will return in his original form in the back half of "The Flash" season 2. Entertainment Weekly reports Matt Letscher will reprise the role, which means he will not be disguised as Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), as he was in the show's premiere season.

"His impossible return to Central City puts a member of the S.T.A.R. Labs team in unexpected danger, forcing Barry to make a life-changing decision," explained executive producer Todd Helbing, who penned Thawne's return with Aaron Helbing.

Letscher will appear in the sophomore season's 11th episode, which is appropriately titled "The Reverse-Flash Returns."

In the season one finale, Eddie Thawne defeated his ancestor Eobard by sacrificing himself, which caused Eobard's existence to be erased from the timeline. As such, it's possible Letscher and this version of Eobard Thawne will originate from another Earth.

Starring Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes and Jesse L. Martin, "The Flash" returns Tuesday, January 19 at 8 pm EST on The CW.
