The latest promo for director Ridley Scott's "The Martian" delves into the archives of the "Ares 3" mission to Mars, as the crew is interviewed by a NASA psychiatrist after 10 days of isolation and forced to confront some hard truths. Like, what's the deal with Aquaman's powers?

"I feel like I got to some of the more important questions," Matt Damon's Mark Watney says of the training exercise, "and not the answers, but definitely things that just kept me up at night. How come Aquaman can control whales? I mean, whales are mammals. That doesn't even make sense."

Based on the 2011 novel by Andy Weir, the film stars Damon as astronaut Mark Watney, who during a manned mission to Mars is presumed dead and left behind by his crew. Struggling to survive with only meager supplies, Watney manages to get a signal to Earth, leading NASA to search for a way to bring “the Martian” home, even as his own crew hatches a daring — and seemingly impossible — rescue plan.

Opening Oct. 2, “The Martian” also stars Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Sebastian Stan, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover.
