In the spy game, you should never say never again. Even if you're Matt Damon.

Variety reports that the actor will be slipping back into his black turtleneck and kicking in a few more skulls as Jason Bourne. The star will apparently reteam with director Paul Greengrass for a fifth entry in Universal Studios' series of spy thrillers based on the books by Robert Ludlum. Damon and Greengrass previously teamed on the second and third features in the franchise -- that's "Supremacy" and "Ultimatum" -- before handing the premise off to Jeremy Renner.

The news seems to verify longstanding reports by Latino Review on the actor's plans to return to the franchise.

But despite past claims that he was done with the role, Damon is said to be in early talks to return as Jason Bourne alongside the Captain Phillips director. Currently, there are plans for a second Renner-led spinoff film featuring his Aaron Cross character, but the trade does not know how a new Damon/Greengrass effort will impact its plans for a summer 2016 release.
