The Matrix star Keanu Reeves was seen in November 2020 with a Neo-like buzzcut as opposed to the beard and long hair he sports while filming the John Wick series. Reeves’ haircut prompted speculation about how Neo will return in The Matrix 4 after his death in The Matrix Revolutions. Some fans speculated that time travel will be involved. However, Reeves previously confirmed the upcoming film will not be a prequel, saying, "No, no, no, no, no. There'll be no going back into the past."

Directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix 4 stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff. The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max Dec. 22, 2021.
