Warner Bros. revealed the official title and logo for The Matrix 4 in a new trailer teasing the blockbuster films that will premiere on HBO Max in 2021.Posted on Twitter, the 30-second long clip featured snippets of several Warner Bros. films being released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in 2021, including Suicide Squad, Dune, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and Space Jam: A New Legacy. Near the end of the clip, a white backdrop is shown featuring the word "Matrix" written in a sharp black font, indicating that this is the title of the fourth movie in the Matrix series.RELATED: Octavia Spencer Reveals How Keanu Reeves Once Saved Her

While no details about the plot of the film have been revealed, fans will recall that Neo (Keanu Reeves) died at the end of 2003's The Matrix Revolutions. Reeves was spotted with a Neo-esque haircut back in November, however, suggesting that time travel may be an element of the upcoming film. Another fan theory that popped up last year suggested that Reeves will portray a completely new and different version of The One that has to be unplugged one more time.

Reeves has since confirmed that the film will not be a prequel to the previous Matrix films, and will take place after the events of Revolutions. During an appearance on BC's The One Show, Reeves explained, "No, no, no, no, no. There'll be no going back into the past."

Reeves' Matrix 4 co-star Jessica Henwick also teased back in October 2020 that the film is set to "change the industry again." "There are definitely moment on set where Yahya [Abdul-Mateen II] and I look at each other and we just go, Matrix 4," Henwick told Comicbook.com at the time. "Those pinch me moments. Yeah. [Director Lana Wachowski] is doing some really interesting things on a technical level in the same way that you know, she created a style back then." She added, "I think she's going to change the industry again with this film. There's some camera rigs that I've never seen before that we're using. That's probably all I can say for that."
