WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revelation, now available on Netflix.
As the name implies, Masters of the Universe: Revelation isn't really a story about Prince Adam and his alter-ego, He-Man, policing Eternia. The series' first five episodes revolved around Teela's journey of self-discovery as she tries to bring magic back to heal Eternia and the cosmos following the deaths of He-Man and Skeletor. As Teela's past comes to light, and her destiny is slowly revealed, several clues hint at a major secret Man-At-Arms wanted to tell her.
Early on, Evil-Lyn, who is no longer in Skeletor's service, tries to find a new path by helping Sorceress restore magic. She recruits Teela and Andra after disguising herself as an old lady, Majestra, and they eventually get to Castle Grayskull. There, Sorceress reveals they need the Sword of Power back, giving the last of Eternia's magic to Lyn's wand-staff.
Interestingly, Sorceress is gazing upon Teela with concern and admits there's something she should know, only to be cut off by Lyn who makes it clear they're pressed for time. Longtime fans would recognize this as a sign that Sorceress was about to admit she's Teela's mom -- a callback to the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe episode, "Teela's Quest." In that storyline, Teela met the Oracle of the Crystal Sea, who divulged her real identity.
We never found out who her father was, but it was said he fought and died in battle for Eternia. Man-At-Arms adopted her, but the oracle and Sorceress herself confirmed she's Teela's mother. Sadly, Teela is mind-wiped at the end as Sorceress doesn't think she's ready to begin the path to succession. This thread would be picked up on and retold in the 2002 remake, but that retelling alluded more to Teela's real dad being none other than Man-At-Arms. It's never confirmed, but rumor had it Season 3 was going to address Duncan's romance with the Sorceress.
And this is where Revelation appears to follow suit, because when Teela takes her team to find Duncan, needing him to be Man-At-Arms once more to reforge the sword, he has something to spill. As the idea of loyalty and family comes up, Duncan, clearly emotional after Teela kicked him to the curb for keeping Adam's secret, confesses she should know something. However, Lyn again cuts the conversation short as they need to get the sword. It may seem comical and like the show's dragging this out, but with someone nefarious manipulating Lyn, it makes sense she doesn't want to hear trivial matters.
Confirmation seems to come later with a devoted Duncan protecting Sorceress at the castle as Tri-Klops' techno-cult attacks. When Teela's squad brings the sword back and powers up the castle, a weakened Sorceress enters her mystical field to regain her energy and exchanges wistful looks with Duncan. It points to a romance and that their daughter has indeed saved her. Since Teela also displayed a mysterious magical strength to summon half the sword in Subternia, it looks like she has her mom's powers, which connects to her arcs of overcoming fear, living up to greatness and accepting if she belongs, orphan or not.
Her power frightens Scare Glow, so it does feel like Teela's destined to take over as the future Sorceress, like the original cartoon planned. Interestingly, as a child of two worlds, Teela may end up being worthy of He-Man's sword as well, so she might need her parents to help her decide her fate. Ultimately, what remains to be seen is how she'll handle the truth, because she already hated how Adam lied. Thus, she may feel betrayed her mom and the man who trained her all her life kept her real lineage a secret.
