WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revelation #1 by Kevin Smith, Rob David, Tim Sheridan, Mindy Lee, Rico Renzi, Kathleen Barnett and Deron Bennett, on sale now.

A new age for Eternia is about to dawn with the upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a follow-up to the 1983 original animated series. With big changes already having been promised for He-Man and his allies, the new series already has a prequel from Dark Horse Comics. In its first issue, He-Man has already been thrown into time-tossed new adventures, but he could be causing more problems than he solves.

After He-Man and his allies were unable to save the king from the venomous interdimensional entity Orlax, the Sorceress believes that a solution to their problem lies in the past. She brings He-Man to the Cosmic Corridor, a massive portal capable of space and time travel -- through which the champion of Eternia is sent hurtling through time. This sends He-Man back to the first time the Orlax was encountered by King Grayskull, and it also gives him the chance to save most of the royal family from a brutal fate. It's a stereotypically heroic gesture on He-Man's part at best, though at worst it is a dark bit of foreshadowing of things to come.

When He-Man finally gets a chance to strike back at the Orlax in the past, it is after the beast has already kidnapped Prince D'Are and while in the process of assaulting the rest of the royal family. None of them are able to save D'Are from the Orlax, but the others are grateful to their enigmatic savior nonetheless. Before leaving with the piece of the beast he had come for, He-Man offers some words of encouragement to the survivors. As careful as he is to not name himself, he does refer to the Orlax by name. This small moment is quickly brushed aside as a humorous coincidence, but the fact that any paradox whatsoever is now a part of He-Man's universe opens the door for the manipulation of time itself.

He-Man doesn't spend long in the past, nor does he interact much at all with the champions who came before him, but he does revel in the glimpses of their lives that he sees. With such apparent ease of access, the Cosmic Corridor has become the most powerful tool in all of Eternia with its first appearance, and that makes it a prime target for the likes of Skeletor.

When the creation of the Sword of Power was witnessed in the past, it came at the steep cost of an unspecified deal with an unnamed devil. No matter their anonymous status, this being was in every possible way a predecessor to Eternia's present menace Skeletor. The classic villain has also been keeping a close eye on the Orlax, so much of one that he is uncharacteristically unconcerned with whatever He-Man is up to. Should either his nemesis or his quarry lead Skeletor to the Cosmic Corridor, there is no question that he would only make horrid use of it. Then again, He-Man may not need any help destroying the future on his own if he continues to act so carelessly in the past.
