Mass Effect fans were in for a long-anticipated announcement during last year's N7 Day when a remastered collection of the first three Mass Effect games was announced. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is a full remake of the groundbreaking original trilogy, giving them current-gen graphics and performance upgrades. Naturally, this means that running Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be a bit more intensive than the original three games.

Games are getting more intensive to run and since GPUs are in high demand, many gamers may want to know if their PCs can run Mass Effect: Legendary Edition before buying it. Ahead of the game's May 14 release, BioWare has released the full system requirements for PC users, and they're indicative of a game that can use some serious horsepower.

CPU

For your processor, BioWare has an Intel Core i5 3570 or AMD FX-8350 as the minimum requirement, with an Intel Core i7-7700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X being the recommended specs. Intel's i7 is a fairly standard CPU that plenty of games tend to recommend, so chances are that any dedicated PC gamer will already have one in their system. The same goes for the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. Both processors can go for around $60.00 USD, though the AMD Ryzen can go for much more.

The minimum required CPUs should allow players to run Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on low settings. A good CPU is usually one of the more important parts of running PC games, so going any lower than the listed minimum requirements may not give Mass Effect fans the best experience. Overclocking is always an option as well for those who know-how.

GPU/RAM

Graphics cards are in high demand right now, meaning it could be difficult to upgrade before Mass Effect: Legendary Edition releases. BioWare suggests an NVIDIA GTX 760 or AMD Radeon 7970 as the minimum GPUs that can run the game. To get the best experience, however, players will need an NVIDIA GTX 1070 or an AMD Radeon Vega 56. Obviously, anything in between the minimum and the recommended will also work.

VRAM, or video memory, is what the GPU uses to process and render graphics. Anything between two to four GBs of VRAM will work to run Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. As for the system RAM requirements, players will want to make sure they've got between eight GBs and sixteen GBs. The VRAM and RAM requirements are pretty standard for most modern games, so an up-to-date PC should have no problems.

OS and Install Size

It looks as though Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will only be available to Windows 10 users, with no note of a Mac or Linux version made on the system requirements page. It should also be noted that the 64-bit version of Windows 10 is required, as it is the only version of Windows 10 that supports the amount of RAM needed.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, when installed, will take up 120 GBs of hard drive space. For comparison, Cyberpunk 2077 takes up about 60 GBs. This makes Mass Effect: Legendary Edition a fairly hefty install, though it is important to remember that its three games bundled together with almost all of the three games' DLC. Al-in-all, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition seems as though it falls within similar requirements to other modern PC titles.
