A talented fan created a series of Mass Effect posters in the same style as those used to promote the upcoming Dune movie.

The images were created by the Reddit user Xam31 using the photomode available in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. As such, the collection lacks any inclusion of Mass Effect Andromeda characters. Regarding the decision to create the posters, the user stated they were inspired upon seeing the Dune poster format appearing online. "Saw a couple of memes, but I wanted a serious spin on it," Xam31 said. "So, I thought of Mass Effect for the vast cast of characters, sci-fi setting and because I have hundreds and hundreds of photos taken during my journey on Legendary Edition on Series X."

As Xam31 noted, the two sci-fi series share enough similarities for the comparison to work. While many details vary, both series focus on space travel through the applications of rare resources known as "The Spice" and "Element Zero" to obtain faster than light travel. While the format is borrowed from the posters for Denis Villeneuve's take on Dune, the Redditor did alter the use of text slightly. While the movie poster introduces the actors and their respective character roles, Xam31 opted to use the characters' names in addition to a fitting in-game title. As such, the Reddit post included a spoiler warning, as some of the titles do give away important plot points.

Regarding capturing the necessary screenshots, Xam31 broke down their process. "None of these shots were taken with these posters in mind. I just brag a few from hundreds of shots I've taken during my playthrough (500+). Jack, Javik, Thane, Shepard and Garrus were taken in photomode. Edi, Liara, Aria and Legion are screencaps from cutscenes," they said.

While they were mostly repurposed screenshots taken for fun, most were framed by the user, rather than by in-game cutscenes. They said, "I like to do these experiences mostly with photos taken in photomode instead of cinematics (only the Saren and Grunt ones are from cutscenes) and I did shoot many shots for those characters that would fit these posters. I also took the opportunity to redo some characters. Enjoy, and use them freely for you wallpapers and such. You guys are amazing."

Dune recently released its second official trailer and is scheduled to release both in theaters and on HBO Max on Oct. 22.
