Mass Effect: Andromeda's Asari squadmate Pelessaria B'Sayle, known more affectionately as Peebee to fans, joined Ryder's squad after the Pathfinder team encountered her at a Remnant ruin on Eos. As restless as she is reckless, it became obvious after meeting Peebee that she was the kind of person who would likely never stand still long enough to let moss gather under her feet.

Her restlessness, while typical of Asari in their maiden years, went above and beyond what even they would consider natural. Whether she was truly just that bored or running from something she struggled to face, Peebee's need to wander and explore drove her out of the Milky Way and straight to the Heleus cluster in search of knowledge and adventure.

Peebee joined the Andromeda Initiative with her romantic partner, Kalinda T'Reve. It was Kalinda who woke Peebee from stasis earlier than she was scheduled. Because Peebee was unauthorized, she lived off the grid to avoid causing unwanted trouble for Kalinda or herself. During this time, Peebee started to sneak onto missions that took her away from the Nexus, and it was during this time she discovered a deep fascination with the Remnant.

Peebee and Kalinda broke it off when the former began spending so much time among the Remnant ruins, and Kalinda up and disappeared. Their relationship, which seemed to be doomed from the start, was a difficult one, with Kalinda struggling with her position as a high society aristocrat. Her disillusionment led her to seek out something darker and less safe with Peebee, but eventually her "little rogue" became more than she bargained for, and she bailed.

Peebee demonstrated shortly after meeting the Pathfinder that she struggled not only to stand still, but to allow herself to trust others, perhaps because of her rocky relationship with Kalinda. Her deep seated distrust made her something of a loner, the kind of person who firmly believed no one else would ever do it right, so she may as well skip that step and see to it on her own.

She described herself to Ryder as the first and foremost authority on the Remnant when they met. Considering the amount of time she'd spent exploring the ruins on her own, studying and disassembling the Remnant, it is likely she was actually one of the few people in Andromeda who understood the strange and mysterious synthetic race. Peebee called them Remnants because she believed that they were only a fraction of something much larger.

Peebee's knowledge and experience with the Remnant made her a valuable asset to the Pathfinder, and though she was hesitant to join Ryder's squad, she eventually relented after they activated the main vault on Eos. Ryder's mission, while not entirely important to Peebee, would certainly lead her to more Remnant ruins and mysteries to explore, so she relented when offered the opportunity to travel with the Pathfinder and their squad.

Through the team's discoveries, Peebee eventually became incredibly invested in the mission herself. She first and foremost wanted to stop the game's big bad, the Archon, from his plans to turn exalt every race he encountered and make them his own soldiers.

Peebee was a romance option for either a male or female Pathfinder, but in the beginning, she planned to endeavor into little more than a casual fling. She wanted no emotional entanglements, only to have fun, which suggested that her relationship with Kalinda had left her distrustful and fearful about letting herself get close to another person.

In time, the Pathfinder got under Peebee's skin in such a way that, no matter how hard she tried to avoid doing so, she fell in love with Ryder. After completing her loyalty mission, which involved Kalinda, Peebee confessed to Ryder that she wanted to be more than friends and more than just lovers. She wanted to meld with them, something she'd never before trusted herself to do with anyone.

Asari melding creates a deep bond between partners as their nervous systems synchronize and allow them to share thoughts and emotions during the process. It also maps the Asari's partner's genome to prepare the body for conception. After the experience, Peebee realized she was finally where she belonged -- with Ryder. For the remainder of the game the pair became locked into an exclusive romantic relationship that offered opportunities to contemplate their future together.

Fans of the franchise were excited to meet Peebee after her introduction during the marketing phase for Andromeda, many of them perhaps hoping for an endearing and sweet relationship like Shepard shared with the original trilogy's Liara T'Soni. Liara and Peebee may have both been Asari with a similar adventurous spirit prompting them to explore ancient ruins in hopes of understanding the past, but the two were day and night so far as personalities went.

Giving Peebee a chance, however, and finding the patience required to explore with someone of her nature, granted the player a hyperactively sweet and quirky travel companion with knowledge no one else could have provided for their mission. Exploring Andromeda with her provided as much laughter as it did frustration at times, making Pelessaria B'Sayle one squadmate Ryder couldn't possibly live without.
