Heroes star Masi Oka has signed on for CBS's reboot of Hawaii 5-0, TV Guide reports.

The 34-year-old actor will debut as the coroner in the show's fourth episode and be listed as a guest star. He'll join a cast that's brimming with genre-TV veterans, including Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight), Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) and Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica).

An update of the classic crime drama that aired from 1968 to 1980, stars O'Loughlin as a decorated Navy officer who returns to Oahu to investigate his father's murder and stays at the request of the governor (Jean Smart of Designing Women) to head up an elite anti-crime task force. The series also stars Scott Caan (Ocean's Eleven) as Det. Danny "Danno" Williams.

Star Trek and Cowboys & Aliens screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci penned the pilot episode, and writer/producer Peter M. Lenkov (Demolition Man, La Femme Nikita) serves as showrunner.

Hawaii 5-0 debuts on Sept. 20.
