In honor of the 25th anniversary of Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross' Marvels, Marvel is teaming up with Stitcher Premium to launch a 10-episode Marvels fictional podcast series.
"Building off our award-winning momentum of Marvel’s Wolverine: The Long Night and its sequel Marvel’s Wolverine: The Lost Trail, the New Media team is thrilled to continue to push the envelope of Super Hero storytelling via the scripted podcast medium," Shane Rahmani, SVP and GM, Marvel New Media said in a statement. "We are passionate about the space and feel we’ve brought the right cast, story, and intrigue in this latest installment."
The voice cast for Marvels currently includes Method Man as Ben Urich, AnnaSophia Robb as Marica Hardesty, Ethan Peck as Mr. Fantastic, Seth Barrish as Phil Sheldon, Louisa Krause as Sue Storm, Jake Hart as Ben Grimm, Ehad Berisha as Johnny Storm, Teo Rapp-Olsson as Peter Parker and Gabriel Ortega as Charlie Martinez.
Launched in 1994, Marvels is a four-part story that follows news photographer Phil Sheldon between 1939 and 1974 as he experiences landmark moments in the Marvel Universe, from the birth of the Golden Age Human Torch to the Fantastic Four's first encounter with Galactus. The series also features appearances from characters such as Gwen Stacy, whom Phil befriends before her infamous death.
Launching in fall 2019, Marvels will be available exclusively on Stitcher Premium before branching out to other podcast platforms in 2020.
