The star of Marvel's Spider-Man has shared an adorable throwback with fans, showing that he always dreamed of becoming the famed web-slinger.

Yuri Lowenthal, who provides the voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Insomniac Games series, posted a picture on Twitter of himself as a child all dressed up as the superhero. It shows Lowenthal from many years ago wearing a classic, plastic Spider-Man mask alongside a more recent shot of him working on Marvel's Spider-Man, complete with dotted face and Spidey suit.

Lowenthal was replying to a tweet that asked users to imagine that they now had the job they dreamed of at 5 years old, showing that playing Spider-Man is a life-long fantasy fulfilled for the actor. Insomniac Games, the developer of Marvel's Spider-Man, admiringly responded to Lowenthal's tweet, saying: "Oh, well, y'know... thanks for being so great."

Spider-Man and Miles Morales Will Return

The actor has had the starring role of Peter Parker in Marvel's Spider-Man series since its inception in 2017. His voice-acting skills garnered particular praise upon the game's release for delivering a gentler and easily likable iteration of the oft-portrayed superhero. Lowenthal worked extensively with the game's voice director to differentiate the voices he used for lab assistant Peter Parker and web-slinger Spider-Man to add depth to his performance.

Developer Insomniac Games recently released Marvel's Spider-Man on PC after years of PlayStation exclusivity, following big titles like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn that have previously made the jump. The move is part of Sony's PC porting strategy, aiming to court an entirely new audience for its blockbuster games. It also allows the company to compete directly with Microsoft, which has put plenty of time and resources into cultivating its Game Pass on the platform.

Recent digging has also unveiled that the developer of Marvel's Spider-Man scrapped a multiplayer mode that featured Peter Parker and alternate Spider-Man Miles Morales for unknown reasons. Fans have speculated several reasons behind the cancellation, though it seems the developer wanted to turn its focus on the game's upcoming sequel. Insomniac Games has also expressed a desire to remaster the cult-classic PS1 Spider-Man game released in 2000.

Lowenthal will reprise his role as Peter Parker in the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2, due for release sometime in 2023. The game will see Peter team up with Miles to take on the wicked Venom, voiced by iconic Candyman actor Tony Todd. Following the recent release of Marvel's Spider-Man on PC, fans hope to see Marvel's Spider-Man 2 released on PC from day one alongside its native PlayStation 5 version.
