Marvel has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at Marvels Snapshots: Civil War by Saladin Ahmed and Ryan Kelly that introduces a brand-new superhero.

The newcomer goes by the name of Helper, and the issue will see him caught up in the Superhuman Registration Act that was at the forefront of Civil War.

"I’ve been thrilled with how the Marvels Snapshots specials have been going over so far — it’s been so much fun to put them together, to work with creators with such a variety of different voices, in both writing and art," original Marvels writer Kurt Busiek said. "And to have readers embrace them the way they have has been great, too — it kinda feels like when we did Marvels in the first place, and got those amazing reader reactions the day the book came out."

"I think people are going to like this one, too," he continued. "Saladin Ahmed’s been doing amazing work at Marvel the last few years, and Ryan Kelly’s not really someone you think of as a Marvel guy, but they’ve come together for a story that’s got a lot of heart and power, and looks amazing. And it even introduces new characters I hope we’ll see more of in the future. If nothing else, I want to see what happened to them next…!"

"I've admired Kurt's work for years, so when he invited me onboard for this, I was thrilled," Ahmed said. "Civil War: Marvels Snapshots is a one-shot self-contained story, my love letter to an iconic event in 616 history that reverberated beyond comics and still feels worth thinking about today. We know how Marvel's Civil War affected the marquee heroes, what stands they took. But to me big conflicts are always really about the regular person on the ground. SNAPSHOTS takes a look at what happens to street level folks when superheroes go to war with each other."

"The story features recognizable characters like Maria Hill and Captain America, but it's really the story of two average people: a low-rent third-string SHIELD agent named Clyde Dobronski, and The Helper, a barely-superpowered kid form Toledo named Yusef," Ahmed continued. "It's a story about what we choose to go along with and what we choose to stand up to."

Marvels Snapshots: Civil War, by Saladin Ahmed and Ryan Kelly, goes on sale Dec. 2 from Marvel Comics.
