Marvel Comics is stepping up its promotion for the upcoming "Secret Empire" crossover event, this time borrowing a tactic that has worked well for the company's film and TV divisions. In support of the Captain America-centric storyline, Marvel has debuted the following teaser trailer for the series.

Featuring contributions from series writer Nick Spencer and Marvel SVP of publishing Tom Brevoort, the trailer covers the necessary plot points you need in order to get on board what the publisher says will be its last big comic book event "18 months, at least."

Will Captain America be defeated? And will that defeat lead to the rise of a new generation of heroes? Fans will have to read to find out.
