The release of the heavily promoted "Phase One" Blu-ray collection, featuring all six Marvel Studios films to date, has been delayed until spring because of a legal dispute over the packaging, Entertainment Weekly confirms.

Last month German briefcase manufacturer Rimowa GmbH sued Marvel and Disney’s Buena Vista Home Entertainment, claiming the studio has damaged its trademark by producing replicas of its aluminum Topas attaché case for the “Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One — Avengers Assembled” limited-edition box set. Originally scheduled to arrive Sept. 25, the collection was to come “complete with glowing Tesseract” and an “exclusive replica of Nick Fury’s iconic briefcase.”

Rimowa, which provided Marvel with the Topas for Samuel L. Jackson to use in the blockbuster Avengers, argued Marvel has reproduced the trademarked $750 attaché case "in every respect but quality," and is seeking all profits from sales of the product and three times its actual damages. In response, the studio is pulling the "Phase One" sets, and will redesign the packaging. Pre-orders already have been shut down on many retail sites.

Retailing for $219, the collection includes all six Marvel Studios films to date – Iron Man (Blu-ray), The Incredible Hulk (Blu-ray), Iron Man 2 (Blu-ray), Thor (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray), Captain America: The First Avenger (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray) and The Avengers (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray) — plus the bonus “Phase One Archives.”
