Now that "Luke Cage" has wrapped its premiere weekend, Netflix has wasted no time in announcing the release date for its next Marvel series, "Iron Fist."

Early this morning, the drama's official Twitter account debuted the briefest of teasers that depicts the Iron Fist symbol forming from the smoke from an incense burner. It ends with the premiere date: March 17, 2017.

The announcement was accompanied by the release of an updated series synopsis from Netflix, as well as a new image of Finn Jones' Danny Rand in action from Games Radar:

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.

The release date fits into the pattern for Netflix and Marvel, which usually launched "Daredevil" in April 2015, followed by "Jessica Jones" in November. The second season of "Daredevil" followed in March 2016, with "Luke Cage" debuting just last week. It seems likely then that fan can expect "The Defenders," which unites the four heroes, to arrive in fall 2017.

The first teaser for "Iron Fist" debuted in July at Comic-Con International, and it certainly wouldn't be surprising to see a full-length trailer emerge this weekend from New York Comic Con.

"Iron Fist" also stars Jessica Henwick, David Wenham and "Jessica Jones" veteran Carrie-Anne Moss.
