Marvel's "Infinity" debuted in the #1 position

Diamond Comics has released its Top Ten charts for products released in August 2013, which finds Marvel once again taking the top spot in both dollar and market share after splitting with DC Comics in July. Image Comics ranked third, with IDW Publishing and Dark Horse rounding out the number 4 and 5 positions, respectively.

Monthly comic sales dropped by about 15% in August from July's numbers, with graphic novels seeing about a 24% dip. August's numbers were also down 14.29% in dollars and 12.5% in units from August 2012.

Marvel's "Infinity" #1 was the best-selling book, as expected, with last month's number one title, "Superman Unchained," in the second slot. DC took the "3-6 positions thanks to its Batman and Justice League titles, while Marvel rounded out the top ten with "Superior Spider-Man," "Avengers" and "All-New X-Men."

"The Walking Dead" once again claimed the top spot in graphic novel sales, and Marvel's Rocket Raccoon trade paperback collecting the character's 4-issue miniseries written by Bill Mantlo and illustrated by Mike Mignola in the '80s debuted in the #3 position, illustrating the character's newfound popularity in advance of Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy" film.
