Fans of the Man Without Fear might want to keep a closer eye on Echo when it premieres on Disney+ next year, as Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio recently revealed the events of the Hawkeye spinoff will lead right into the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again.D'Onofrio, who reprised his role as crime boss Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in 2021's Hawkeye, expressed his excitement for not only the climax Echo will build up to but also for how the show will connect to Daredevil's first standalone series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "It's like full-on in the last few episodes of [Echo]," D'Onofrio said while speaking at Salt Lake FanX. "It's going to be quite something. And that leads into, of course, Born Again."RELATED: Daredevil: Born Again's New Logo Gives the Hero His Iconic Symbol

Both D'Onofrio's Kingpin and Charlie Cox's Daredevil have been confirmed to return in Echo, according to a report from earlier this year. Somewhat less reputable rumors, meanwhile, have suggested the return of another Marvel Netflix alumni, with one source claiming Krysten Ritter might reprise her role as private investigator Jessica Jones. The same rumor also claimed Cox will star as Daredevil in three episodes "rocking a red and black suit" while D'Onofrio plays Kingpin in four episodes running for mayor of New York City and "wearing an eye patch because he was shot in the head in Hawkeye."

Daredevil and Kingpin Are Back

An official synopsis for Echo describes the show as a continuation of the story of Hawkeye's Maya Lopez, a deaf gang leader who was after Clint Barton for the vengeful deeds he committed as the masked vigilante Ronin. "The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown," the synopsis reads. "She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward."

Charlie Cox, whose most recent appearance as Daredevil came in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law earlier this year, has since expressed his hopes to see more of Matt Murdock's lawyering side in Born Again. "We know they're going to be 18 episodes and that's kind of mind-blowing to me. What I hope that does, is it gives us longer to really live in the characters and to spend more time in Matt Murdock's world as a lawyer," Cox said. "You know, have all the cool Daredevil superhero stuff, but to really live in his world and to ground the show in the day-to-day life of someone who has a profession as a lawyer, could be really interesting. It could be really fun.

Echo is expected to premiere on Disney+ in the summer of 2023, while Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled for a fall 2024 release.
