Crystal Dynamics has revealed that Marvel's Avengers will be adding Maestro as part of the new DLC, Operation: Hawkeye - Future Imperfect. Maestro (a villainous future version of Bruce Banner) is an inspired choice, and could make for a great new opponent to battle. However, the game only has three other villains at this time, which inherently stunts gameplay variety and keeps the experience from feeling fresh. Adding a few more foes would certainly continue what many hope is the game's upward trend.

The villains on this list are ether connected to existing characters or potiential DLC characters, and each is strong enough to realistically stand a chance against a full team of Avengers. Here are five villains we want to see join Marvel's Avengers.

Ultron

One of the Avenger's greatest foes absolutely deserves to be in the game, both from a story and gameplay perspective. Hank Pym, the robot's original creator, is a side character in the main storyline, and a datamine of the beta suggests he will eventually be added as a playable character. Additionally, when Kamala Khan and Bruce Banner discover the Ant Hill, Resistance leader Sarah Garza references the robots Pym is developing, potentially foreshadowing his future creation.

There's plenty of room to develop single-player campaign missions surrounding stopping Ultron, and his enormous strength and energy-based weaponry would make him a handful to deal with. His Ultron Sentries, which appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron could also be incorporated as a new class of enemies.

Loki

Thor's nefarious brother is also a classic Avengers villain, and his base abilities could present a completely new challenge for players. Instead of overpowering strength or technology, Loki could use his skills as a sorcerer to conjure a whole host of challenges, such as illusions, teleportation and telekinesis. Defeating him would require a more strategic approach. His addition would also be a great chance for the War Table to bring in Asgard as a new region, which many fans are looking forward to.

Beyond being a comic-relevant foe, Loki is among the most recognizable and popular Marvel characters due to his major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so including him is a no-brainer. Additionally, with the upcoming release of Loki on Disney+, the game could even attract a whole new pool of interested players with a well-timed release.

Norman Osborn

Iron Patriot Contest of Champions Iron Man

Though he's typically a Spider-Man villain, Osborn has also been an antagonist to Tony Stark in his role as the Iron Patriot. He is best known as the Green Goblin, but this version would work best as a means of incorporating the character across platforms, since Spider-Man will unfortunately only be available to PlayStation gamers.

As the Patriot, Osborn operates an incredibly advanced version of Stark's armor that helped him to go toe-to-toe with Thor during the Siege storyline. He also commands the Dark Avengers, a group of villains posing as heroes, which could add a whole new layer of difficulty to both single and multiplayer matches against him.

Ronan the Accuser

Captain Marvel and Mar-Vell haven't been officially confirmed yet, but both were found in the previously mentioned datamine, and the former has already been directly referenced in-game. The new Future Imperfect storyline also teases a Kree invasion of Earth, making Ronan (a member of an elite Kree military force) a plausible choice that would build on the existing narrative.

Being a Kree, Ronan has a naturally impressive level of strength and resistance, which is only further boosted by his Kree battle armor and the devastating Universal Weapon. The Accuser has also been depicted wielding the cosmic power of the Black Vortex, which amplifies its users powers to levels that the Avengers would need to work together to overcome.

Dormammu

Yet another datamined character, Doctor Strange would introduce a whole new world of mystical entities to the fabric of the game. Since the Sorcerer Supreme wields a fantastical amount of power, it's only fitting that a new boss who can match his style should come into play. As an interdimensional being of near-infinite potential, the master of the Dark Dimension could arguably be the mightiest foe in the entire game.

Not only has Dormammu matched up against the likes of Odin, but he's also defeated the Phoenix Force and all of the Avengers combined in the past. Much like Ultron, he could also justify the creation of a new enemy class by summoning the Mhuruuks, humanoids capable of using magic, who Doctor Strange's significant other, Clea, is a member of.
