Square Enix is pulling out all the stops to build up hype for its upcoming video game Marvel's Avengers, including providing an extended look at early gameplay.

Square has released an early build of the game as A.I.M. attempts to cause the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier to drop right in the heart of Manhattan. As reporter Phil Sheldon is nearly crushed by falling debris, Thor reclaims Mjolnir to save him and emerge from retirement.

The rest of the trailer has Thor team up with the Hulk on the Helicarrier to drive back A.I.M.'s robotic drones, while coordinating with Iron Man, Black Widow and Ms. Marvel.

The announcement trailer revealed that the Avengers suffer a cataclysmic tragedy while opening their West Coast headquarters at the start of the game, leading to them disbanding. With M.O.D.O.K. leading A.I.M. and a new cadre of villains to take control of the planet, it's up to Earth's Mightiest Heroes to reassemble and stop their longtime foes for good.
