Marvel's Avengers introduced a brand-new Hawkeye skin based on an obscure version of the character.

As shown in a post from the game's official Twitter page, Hawkeye's "90's Glory" costume swaps Hawkeye's standard purple and black color scheme for a red, white and blue outfit somewhat reminiscent of Captain America. This costume was first introduced in the comic War Machine #18, written by Dan Abnett with artwork by Fred Haynes. "90's Glory" was officially added to the game's marketplace on Jan. 19.

Hawkeye in the War Machine Comics

The War Machine comic series revolves around the titular superhero, who is first introduced as an ally to Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, and briefly assumes his role when the character is presumed dead. War Machine picks up after Stark returns and Jim Rhodes gets to go solo as War Machine. In War Machine #18, Rhodes is trailed by a vicious monster while pursuing a woman named Skye. When the monster attacks, Hawkeye joins forces with Rhodes to defeat it.

"90's Glory" is not the only recent addition to Marvel's Avengers Hawkeye skin collection. Another skin, based on Barton's undead "Werehawk" form from Secret Avengers #33, was added to the marketplace on Dec. 29. This skin features Barton covered with dark purple feathers while sporting a realistic hawk head with dark red eyes. On Jan. 5, Hawkeye's "Modern" costume debuted in the game's marketplace. This look also originates from the Secret Avengers comic series, which has Clint Barton leading a group of heroes working covertly to protect humanity. Marvel's Avengers also released something for Iron Man fans this month, as it added Stark's "Prime Armor" suit to the marketplace on Jan. 5. This look is based on the Model-Prime Armor suit that was featured in the Invincible Iron Man comic series.

Marvel's Avengers Might Be Nearing Its End

Although Marvel's Avengers is still regularly updating its character roster, it appears that 2023 will be the last year of new content for the game. Back in December, the trusted leaker Miller Ross stated that, according to his sources, "there are no plans for content in 2024." Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have also reportedly halted production on adding the fan-favorite character, She-Hulk, to the game. Ross also claimed that "active development" on this character started in late 2021, but ultimately stopped due to unresolved shortages in budget and manpower.

Marvel's Avengers is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
