Fans recently saw how far Marvel's Avengers could expand its lore with War for Wakanda. Not only did fans experience a new biome with the country of Wakanda, but they also got to play as its king. In addition, the Black Panther showed that similar controls still offer a diverse gameplay experience between characters. Thanks to dialogue from its side characters, it also manages to tease an even more exciting but still enigmatic future for the game.

While the title's future is still unwritten, it seems as if Spider-Man is the likely next hero, at least for PlayStation players. While he is an exciting addition to the game, another hero deserves to show up before him -- the Scarlet Witch. Not only is she an early Avenger, but the powers and narrative potential she offers could help grow the game even more. What's more, Scarlet Witch has been teased in the Wakanda outpost, where the shaman Zawavari can be heard talking to the Scarlet Witch. For now, nothing is confirmed, but it's hard to ignore the many doors that could open with her inclusion.

Much like how Kate Bishop helped usher in a time travel storyline that concluded with Clint Barton's DLC. Wanda's appearance could be the start of a huge magic-based storyline that could span multiple dimensions while furthering the game's overall narrative. One direction it could take is AIM turning to the occult to try and gain the upper hand against the forthcoming Kree invasion. Another possibility is that Wanda needs the Avengers' help to fend off a separate but equally dangerous threat.

Wanda's inclusion could also bring some much-needed variety to the skills and abilities among the team. As of now, the heroes are mostly tech-based, with only one true God on the team. With Wanda and her chaos magic being thrown into the mix, players could have a character that adds more versatility in how she fights. Depending on how a player uses her, she could be used as a healer/controller, with abilities that buff heroes and increase their willpower. However, she could also be a powerful DPS character who can string together spells that deal massive damage without touching an enemy.

Another issue that plagues Marvel's Avengers is the constant presence of robotic enemies. Since AIM is mainly a robotics corporation, it makes sense narratively. But in a universe with so many types of foes, fighting the same enemies repeatedly can get stale quickly. Wanda could bring new enemies like the Mindless ones from the Dark Dimension and new enemy types like a chaos magic type that works similarly to sonic and vibranium in Klaue Company. Plus, with new enemies come new strategies that players have to adapt to.

With no other characters confirmed except for Spider-Man, speculation remains a major factor in the game. However, when looking at the story's trajectory and the elements being teased, it's hard not to think about the Scarlet Witch.  Her inclusion could bring more story, a variety in powers and a unique array of gear types and enemies. Thankfully, even though she may not be the next Avenger, there's still space for her in the future.
