Come July, Marvel's Avengers players shouldn't be surprised if they start seeing double, triple, or even quadruple, as developer Crystal Dynamics recently announced the highly requested ability for players to play multiple of the same hero starting with next month's update.

In the developer's latest roadmap update for the superhero action RPG, the game will be "permanently turning on the ability to play multiple of the same Hero during matchmaking and when forming Strike Teams." Though Crystal Dynamics has promised more details to come, the developer did mention this much-requested feature is set to have a Hero selection "always" similar to the Tachyon Anomaly Event where players could create Strike Teams with up to four of the same Hero.

Other features included in the July update include multiplayer Mega Hives and the first Omega-Level Threat, titled "Family Reunion." Mega Hives will see an increased difficulty, though will be faster to complete thanks to the developers halving the number of required Heroic Gauntlets. Omega-Level Threat: Family Reunion will pit players against the Super-Adaptoid featuring new abilities in what the developer calls its "toughest content to date."

Patrol Mode, however, has been delayed until sometime after the War For Wakanda expansion in August. The free update will introduce the fictional country of Wakanda as the game's newest location as well as Black Panther, who'll serve as the game's next playable hero. The developer has stated War For Wakanda is still on schedule and plans on providing players with more information over the coming months.

In a bugged patch that went live in June, Marvel's Avengers exposed players' personal information, including IP addresses. A hotfix dropped shortly after, with PS5 players being urged not to stream or share screenshots until they've downloaded the hotfix.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Google Stadia.
