The upcoming Marvel's Avengers video game will let players step into the superheroic boots of classic Avengers characters including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk and of course, Black Widow, one of S.H.I.E.L.D's deadliest agents.

A new four-minute gameplay clip showcases "Natasha’s training and innate capability to keep cool in any situation... augmented by an array of gadgets, tools, weapons, & attacks for every scenario." The clip itself sees Natasha Romanoff in action, charging across a collapsing bridge in a fight against the classic supervillain Taskmaster.

Black Widow's abilities are far more grounded in comparison to her teammates; she has a unique fighting style that utilizes weapons like guns and grenades and gadgets such as her widow's bite and cloaking device. The gameplay seems to capture that fairly well and it seems as though players may get a proper Black Widow experience.

In describing how Marvel's Avengers treats Black Widow in terms of gameplay, lead combat designer Vince Napoli explained, "Black Widow is a really complex and nuanced character." He continued, "it only makes sense that her gameplay and mechanics are designed in a way that compliments those aspects of her character." He described the experience as "playing Black Widow is about efficiency," before assuring players "her combat and gameplay style always feels distinct."

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers features Nolan North as Iron Man, Troy Baker as Bruce Banner, Laura Bailey as Black Widow, Jeff Schine as Captain America and Travis Willingham as Thor. The game is scheduled to be released on May 15, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
